I would definitely recommend Landscape Giants if you're looking for a professional, friendly, and courteous crew of men to come in and help you with tree removal or even just help getting the limbs raised on trees. They are very efficient, hard working and cleaned up the debris as fast as it hit the ground. I'm so glad I hired them for my yard. It looks like a new place!! Thanks guys!!

Steve was hired to to do what we thought was a simple tile job, replacing missing/damaged tiles to the shower wall in our recently purchased home. After removing the old tile, we were shocked to find out that the walls were totally rotted out! Upon further inspection he discovered the floor (and subflooring) under the tub was rotted also! The cause of all the water damage? Old, rusty deteriorated plumbing fixtures (pipes, drains faucets) that were hidden from plain view. Steve "held our hand" every step of the way, assuring us through his calm demeanor, expertise and skill as he spent the next three days tearing out all old bath and shower components (including floors and walls) and totally rebuilding and installing the new shower and tub! Knowing we were first time homeowners who just moved in, he was extremely generous with the bill he presented to us. We will definitely call on him for future repairs/remodel projects!

Cliff was super affordable and did a great job. He was prompt -- he showed up when he said he would, and wasn't late. He was excellent at communicating and keeping us in the loop on the supplies he was getting and waiting for. He quickly got the job done. Our formerly lumpy yard is graded & levelnow with tree roots ground up, and seed is put down with hay on top. The other two bids we got were 2x and 4x as much. We recommend him highly. Thanks Cliff!

Eric(owner) is very professional and courteous. He is willing to listen to your needs and makes recommendations from your individual needs. Pricing was very competitive. There are several payment options that are available to fit your needs.... I chose to pay online, that way I don't have to be home and don't have to waste time away from other things making sure he gets paid. I am very satisfied with the work and attention to detail that was taken on my lawn. . My yard needed some extra work done to remove excess growth over the sidewalks and driveway,Eric didn't take any short cuts in making my lawn look great. He even had to get a shovel to remove the over growth. The equipment that was used is top of the line. He has several different mowers so is able to chose the right mower for the job. I would highly recommend Tru Cut Lawns to my family and friends. I look forward to being the talk of the neighborhood this year with the help from Tru Cut Lawns. Thanks,Bruce

I really enjoyed working with Jerry, he was always looking out for me and keeping me informed at all times. He even went as far as breaking down all the cabinets and debris before putting it in the dumpster so we could have room for everything and I never even had to ask him to do it, he just did it on his own. We had a total demo on our house which included a lot of work and Jerry completed the job in less than a week. Would recommend for any of your demolition needs.

The Tree Management team tackled a very complex 50' tree removal that included coordinating with interfering power lines and protecting rooftops of adjacent properties. The job was completed safely and all of the debris removed in a timely and professional manner. These men know what they are doing!

I can't tell you enough how good the man they sent out was. Absolutely amazing. The yard looks perfect. It was overgrown and think from not being mowed before I moved in. These guys quoted me a price and I thought once they saw it they might say it would cost more but they stuck to their price. The yard looks amazing now. They got everything perfect. If your any place that this company services you need to hire them for sure ! They even offer a two week plan and said they would get me set up on it so I don't have to both with setting up an appointment every few weeks. I wish I had before pictures to show everyone how bad it was but I can at least take after pictures to show how great it looks now. I talked to the man when we was leaving to ask if they didn't brush removal because the previous resident here left brush on the front yard and under the back tree and the man said he would spreak to his father to see if they didn't brush removal. I hope they do so I can use them for that as well because I don't think anyone else will put in the hard work that they do. Won't hire anyone else aside from them after the job they did.

We just moved into a house that had overgrown bushes. Adam did a complete transformation on a short notice. He is very professional, answered all of my questions and his work with landscaping is phenomenal. He trimmed bushes, trimmed a tree and also explained in detail about certain shrubs. A++. I will definitely hire him again! It looks like a different house out front!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

  • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
  • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to cut down a massive tree?

If you have to remove a big, beautiful tree from your property, you’ll definitely need an arborist. Cutting down a massive tree without the proper tools or training can lead to major property damage or injury. A huge tree may need to be removed if it is diseased or dying and poses a safety risk, has suffered a blow from a storm and isn’t safe, or is growing into your home, your home’s foundation, your septic system, or your power lines. Removal costs for such large trees will depend on the tree’s height, diameter, and relative safety and accessibility, as well as whether you also need the felled tree and stump removed. The bare minimum for removal of a tree over 75 or 80 feet would be $1,000. This may not include tree quartering and removal or stump grinding. Stump grinding ranges on average from $2 to $4 per inch of the stump’s diameter. There is no set price as each situation is unique, so it’s always best to have an arborist give you a quote and detail exactly which services are included in the price.
