Introduction: First of all, I LOVE teaching math and working with a variety of students. With many years of experience and training, I have the ability to teach math concepts from different viewpoints, use a wide variety of strategies and techniques and can find and work with the learning style of my students. I try to make math fun when possible and get my students to see the connection of the math they are studying to real life. I enjoy watching students grow mathematically while they build their confidence in mathematics. I love to see that "light bulb" go off and the student able to make connections to previous material and concepts and be able to apply them. It definitely makes me happy when a student walks away with a good attitude and deep appreciation for mathematics.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

My father made me tutor my brother when he was in Algebra II and I was in Algebra I after my parents exhausted every math tutor they could find. I found it very easy to teach my brother and of course knowing him extremely well and how he worked made it simpler as well. My mom was a teacher and she and my dad were amazed at how natural teaching came to me, especially since I was able to get through to my brother and help him to pass. I also had the pleasure of having three of the most amazing math teachers in high school. I still use many of the techniques and strategies that they used and they were such an inspiration to my vocation in life.
