I called Al to deal with an ant infestation in my house. He came over within 24 hours of my initial call. He was very professional and polite. He described the treatments that were available and gave his recommendation on what would work. He treated my whole house inside and out at a very reasonable price. He also followed up a few days later to make sure we were satisfied and not having any other problems. I will call Al again for my pest control.

I am so glad I chose Wise Pest Control to help me with my ant problem. Justin was on time and very thorough. He spent over an hour at my house, explaining what he was doing and talking bugs :-). I had ants everywhere!!!!! After one application all of the ants are gone. I signed up for service for the year.

Have you ever booked a professional to help you with a pest problem and been completely blown away by have incredible their service, expertise, and knowledge is? If you haven't, you need to call Daniel. If I could give him 10 stars I would. We own a Bed and Breakfast and had a massive roach infestation in one of our guest homes. We tried other "so called pest services" and they sent out a guy who visited on his cell phone the entire time, lamely spraying the outside of the house. Needless to say, the roaches laughed and kept coming. Then I found Veterans Exterminators on Thumbtack. Daniel came on time, he brought a camera with a flexible neck that he inserted into walls and crevices to find roach nests, he inserted a smoker/fogger into the walls, ceiling, and places he found nests. He treated the outside and the inside. He vacuumed with a special vacuum inside the walls and ceilings, under the sink and places he found nests. The other guy was here for 15 minutes. Daniel was here for two hours. He is coming back in two weeks. I feel 100% confident in his work. He said it best, "There are lots of Pest Control Spraying companies in our area, there are very, very few Exterminators." This service is incredibly affordable, and our bed and breakfast depends on not having one bug for any guest to see, any time. Listen up, this is the service you need. They are worth their weight in gold.

We had been having a problems with ants coming in to our kitchen area for several months. My usual attempts to seal off their approaches into the house (kitchen windows) with over-the-counter ant killer did not work on these ants. They were even getting into the dishwasher, feasting on the dirty dishes. Mike laid some tiny bait traps (treating the inside of some small pieces of soda straws) and within 2 days, the ants were gone and have stayed gone (2 months now). I heartily recommend his services to anyone who has an insect pest problem! And anyone who wants to avoid having a problem!

I reached out to Black Diamond for getting rid of an ant infestation in my home. I appreciate that they responded on a Sunday, when most local exterminators were closed and the only other options were the expensive exterminator brands. Peter with Black Diamond was professional and charged a fair price, and the thousands of ants that were crawling all over my kitchen cabinets are now gone.

I had a great experience. Jimmy, was kind, professional and very affective. I had ants and spiders that I couldn’t get rid of. As well as a few Wasps nest that hadn’t been taken care of by my previous bug company. He came in and did more work then I had ever seen any other bug guy do. Treated my house inside and outside as well as my yard while keeping in mind I have children and pets. I would greatly recommend him to everyone.

The service person comes when he is scheduled. They ask if you have any special problems that needs to be addressed. I had an ant problem and they come promptly when I called. It did take a couple of applications before the ants were controlled, but ants are difficult. I have used other pest control companies but have been most satisfied with Frontline. Their employees are professional but friendly.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies handle all aspects of bug, rodent and animal extermination or removal. Pest control professionals visit your home or office to identify the type of pest that is troubling you and offer various treatment plans — complete with clearly outlined costs. Once you and the pest control company have a signed agreement, the pro will begin treatment. Pest treatment can range from the use of spray pesticides and gel bait to live and/or kill traps. There are a wide range of types of pesticides, many of them nontoxic for humans and other small animals. This means you may be able to have your home treated for pests without harming nearby wildlife or your dog and cat. The pest control pro will carry out the treatment plan and, depending on the service agreement, provide follow-up such as emptying traps, inspecting access points, or reapplying pesticide spray if the pests return. Costs will vary based on the type of pest you are having removed and the extent of the infestation. The average national pest control price range is $80-$130. From a minor bedbug event to an entire home termite infestation, pest control companies have got you covered.

How much does it cost to remove a mouse?

If you have a mouse in your house you’re probably quickly researching pest control costs. Mice, although tiny, can transmit diseases and also get into your food and leave unsanitary droppings around your home. If you have seen one mouse in your house, it’s likely that more have taken up residence in your crawl space, attic or basement. The national average pest control cost is $150-$200. Costs can vary depending on whether you need to get rid of a population of living mice or just dispose of a dead mouse (or full traps), how extensive the mouse population is, and where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pest control cost for removing a mouse:

  • $150 for initial trap setup and inspection (and sealing of entry holes).
    • $50 for rodent removal service calls and emptying of traps. This visit can also include identifying and sealing entry points that were not sealed on the first visit.
  • Rodent extermination: $110-$350, depending on how heavy the rodent population is, whether the mouse infestation poses health risks, how many entrances exist and how many rodent bait stations are needed.

How much does it cost to treat a house for termites?

Termites are not only creepy-crawly, they can literally eat your house out from underneath you. Termites feed on damp and dry wood and can chomp through your house at an alarming rate. The national average pest control cost for termite extermination is $240-$400. Treatment costs can be higher for an extensive infestation. Here are some examples of average pest control costs for termites:

  • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: $3-$4 per linear foot.
    • For $75 per year, a company may offer a maintenance plan that provides inspection of the property and renewal of the warranty.
  • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: approximately $400 for a 2,000-square-foot home at $3-$5 per linear foot.
    • The price is higher for additional work such as foaming and drilling inside of concrete slabs.
  • Fumigation treatment of drywood termites: $1,200-$1,500 for a 30,000- to 35,000-cubic-foot home
    • Fumigation is measured in cubic feet because it fills the airspace of the home and infiltrates the wood that the termites may be colonizing. The cost of fumigation is affected by the number of levels in the home as well as the square footage.

How much does it cost to get rid of cockroaches?

Cockroaches are not only ugly, they are difficult to get rid of. Quick and resilient, they can be hard to get rid of without professional help once they have inhabited a house. Nationally, the average range for cockroach pest control cost is $80-$130. Extermination professionals typically provide a free estimate to determine the extent of the infestation. They’ll check for the main sources of the bugs, identify bug access and entry points into your home, and determine the best method for elimination. There are a variety of cockroach extermination tools including gel baits and traps, pesticide foggers, desiccants (which dry out the cockroaches), neurotoxins, and other pesticides. Pest control costs can also cover preventive measures like regular spraying and trap maintenance. Some regions of the country are much more prone to cockroach problems than others, so pest control costs may need to be part of your quarterly budget. Cockroaches love dark, humid, and warm areas and water sources, so place traps near your washer and dryer and under your sinks.

How much does it cost to get a pest inspection?

In general there is no cost for a pest inspection. Exterminators typically provide a free property or building inspection and then provide you with a written estimate outlining the necessary treatment and cost. The home visit allows the exterminator to assess the problem and let you know what your pest control cost will be if you contract with their services. You may need a termite inspection for real estate purposes. This will be a verified inspection showing that the house in question is termite-free (often done before a sale). The inspection may cost a flat rate, such as $125-$150, depending on house size.

It’s hard to predict pest control costs sight unseen due to the variety of factors that go into pest treatment. For example, a bedbug problem for one customer may be confined to one room and be easy to access and treat in one visit if the room is clear of clutter and the bedbugs have been caught early. In another home, a bedbug problem may also be confined to one room, but there’s a great deal of clutter, providing more hiding places for the bugs and requiring more spray and labor for the exterminator, as well as many pieces of large furniture in the room that need to sprayed. Depending on the maturity of the infestation, a bedbug problem may require multiple visits to entirely eliminate. This is why many companies provide a free inspection to determine pest control costs and provide you the most accurate quote possible.
