Introduction: Hey! My name is Matt and I'm a Music Teacher and Producer living in East Nashville. I have over 18 years of teaching experience and can help you get a lot of enjoyment out of your playing or producing. I'm a patient teacher and I make my lessons fun and engaging. I teach all styles of music including Pop, Rock, Country & Jazz as well as songwriting, recording, mixing and audio production lessons. I also make it a point to keep the lessons interesting, and introduce songs that compliment the music theory that we're learning at that particular time. I teach all about the underlying theory and logic of music to help you learn how to become fluent on your instrument or DAW. I just finished my work in the studio with Matt about a week ago, and I couldn't be happier with my experience working with him. Matt helped me record vocals for a 13 song project in his studio, and was completely on board with the vision I had. He was very professional and organized, yet always made sure I felt comfortable during our sessions. Matt played a big role in getting the project's quality to the level I wanted it to be at. He made suggestions when he had ideas about different directions I could go, but was also very respectful of my opinion, and made it clear he understood that it was my project. Overall, I'm absolutely thrilled with my experience working with Matt. He's a great guy and I would recommend him to anyone!

Matt has been an awesome teacher for me. We've been working together for over a month now. He's willing to really take time and tackle details of whatever we are working on, whether it's a mix, an instrumental part, or general music questions. We've recently expanded from mixing to general songwriting and designing the arrangement with the mix in mind. I definitely recommend Matt!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Lessons are 60 minutes long and are charged by the hour. Students must pay for the entire month of lessons upfront. There is a 24 hour cancellation policy for anything other than sudden illness. If the cancellation policy is not met, the student is charged for the lesson.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Our first lesson is centered around finding out what the student already knows, and where the holes are in their musical knowledge so I can determine what to focus on. We also speak about the student's goals, and then figure out the best way to proceed.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been teaching music lessons for 14+ years, have been a professional musician for 15 years, a record producer/engineer/mixer for 10 years... I also have an Ethnomusicology/Psychology degree from Cornell University
