I don't live in Nashville, but if I could fly out there and take lessons from Timon every week, I'd do it. I had the pleasure of working with Timon several years ago, after he was recommended to me by a friend and owner of the music school where Timon was working. I'll be the first to say that I am not necessarily the easiest person in the world to teach music to. I don't have a natural ability to pick up a guitar and understand what I'm doing, I don't have perfect rhythm, and I'm probably a little too concerned with learning HOW to do something, rather than just playing. Timon took the time to understand how to teach me, and made each lesson a great mix of theory (why certain notes or chords fit the way that they do), practice (working on skills and becoming more fluid), and playing songs (because everyone wants to be a rock star). He has a fantastic understanding of the instrument, but more importantly, Timon just really likes to play. He made me want to get better and showed me how to get there. I can tell you that I haven't had a lesson with Timon in several years, but I still have the first notebook that I used in my lessons with him (coincidentally, it's on the table next to me as I'm writing this review), and I still look things up in it from time to time. If you're considering lessons but aren't sure of where to start, drop Timon a line. You won't be disappointed.

I am a new singer songwriter who needed some serious guitar help. Since taking lessons with Timon Kaple, I have written some of my best compositions, been more confident in myself as a musician, and been offered quite a few gigs! I highly recommend taking lessons from him!
