At Troy's Texas BBQ we pride ourselves on offering mouth watering Texas style BBQ presented in a formal buffet setting for your special event. We work with you to creatively customize your menu and meal presentation to meet your needs and your budget. We only accept a few events a month and never more than one a day in order to give each event personalized attention.
Our entrees include mouth-watering brisket, chicken, ribs, fajitas, pulled pork, sausage, and more. If you are desire a particular type of meat smoked for your event or a side prepared using a favorite family recipe, ask us. We may be able to do just that. This is your event. We are just the caterers here to serve you.
Our typical event is between 40 and 150 guests, although we do extend outside of this range. We typically prepare, deliver, setup, serve, and cleanup, however our participation level can be customized to meet your budget or event needs. Our typical presentation style is formal, however in addition to weddings we have also catered less formal events such as church and business events. We typically provide the full meal, although some events have requested we only provide the meat. And as we believe Texas style BBQ should be affordable even at formal events, we strive to work with you to provide pricing that is reasonable for your budget.

Troy’s Texas BBQ was the perfect catering service for our wedding on March 21, 2019. Deborah kept open communication with us through the process and gave us delicious samples. Everyone at our wedding complimented the food! We had the bacon wrapped chicken, savory brisket, and delicious pork ribs along with potato salad and beans. They also supplied water and unsweet tea stations for or guests. Troy is really big on having the best tasting bbq and made it a point to have the food fresh off the grill. He even sliced it as guests approached the buffet table. It was incredibly delicious and the pricing was great! I recommend them to anyone and we are very pleased!
Unfortunately, I don’t have pictures of the food yet as I’m waiting on our amazing photographer but I will post those as soon as I’m able!

Deborah was unbelievably helpful throughout the process of the catering portion of our event. Her and her husband arrived early to help accommodate our event needs and the food was great. Their cornbread was a huge hit with our guests and they had the foresight to provide a portion of our chicken without bacon for non-pork eaters. Would definitely recommend them to friends and clients and hire them for future events.

Absolutely incredible BBQ and phenomenal service! We are having a more formal, plated meal for our wedding, but wanted to keep it down-home and casual Texas for our backyard engagement party and read the wonderful reviews here on Thumbtack. They were very responsive and kind and I knew exactly what to expect and how much I would be charged well in advance. Lo and behold the day of way WAY colder than expected this year and the wind was more intense than most anything Austin ever gets - bummer. The folks here went out of their way to use tons of extra foil around the sternos to keep everything nice and warm. The weather meant we had a few less people than expected, but the food was just as delicious reheated. Our event was only 50 people but I think they'd do an incredible job for larger wedding and events too. Very professional and easy to work with - I highly recommend!!!

These guys were great. Good price. Communicated well. Food was great and on time. Came up with a better answer to us having to return items to them the next week by using disposable serving dishes and utensils. Wedding. Had the Brisket, chicken, beans, potato salad.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Each event is unique, and so the pricing for each event will vary according to the event menu, presentation needs, venue type and location. We try to work within your budget to make serving high quality BBQ at your special event affordable and memorable.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Because we treat each event as a unique affair, we like to begin each event planning stage with a phone call or face-to-face visit to get a sense of what your unique needs are for your event. During this time we can discuss your particular event meal needs, including your menu selections and presentation goals. We can deliver a detailed quote to you within a few days. Then if your event is a wedding, we'd like to meet with you at some point before your special day and visit the venue to get a feeling for the layout and ambiance we have to work with.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
Troy has been perfecting the art of smoking meats for years, initially serving it at dinner parties hosted at home. Our church got wind of his talents and began requesting him to smoke his meats for various church functions with guest counts ranging from 30-500 people. Before long an excited buzz could be heard when it became known that "Troy's BBQ" would be served. Out of this popularity, private requests began trickling in for full service Texas BBQ catering at weddings and other events, which in turn continued the cycle through satisfied guests recommending or requesting our service. And now here we are, with a private request base to keep us regularly occupied.
