About

Christopher is a great musician. His knowledge in music theory is simply outstanding, and his skill with the guitar is fascinating. Sometimes you've to just stay back, and wonder in amazement how beautifully his fingers traverse the fretboard at an amazing speed while being consistently accurate. He is also a fantastic teacher: always patient with students who doesn't quite have his tenacity with the instrument yet (like me, haha). He tries to figure out what your need is and how to achieve them accordingly. Another good thing is that, besides the scheduled lessons, he is reachable via emails and phones too if you're having any problem with a particular thing. He has also been very accommodating with the dates: whenever I had to make a sudden change to my scheduled lesson due to emergency, he gladly fixed another convenient date and time for me. All in all, you can't go wrong with Christopher as far as guitar lessons go. I highly recommend him as the go to person regardless of your skill level.

About

I teach drum set (all styles) as well as band percussion (mallets, snare drum and tympani), piano (classical, jazz, pop) and guitar (lead and rhythm) to kids and adults. Group lessons are also available. I have reasonable rates, convenient location, or I can come to you. I also have excellent references. Please email if interested. Biography: I been playing piano since 1977, taking 9 years of piano and drumming since 1984. I was taught drum set by an apprentice of acclaimed drummer, Rod Morgenstein. I was the drum-line section leader for Monterey High School in Lubbock and earned All District Band in Concert Band and Jazz band for 2 years. I was accepted to the Berklee College of Music in 1990. I have been drumming for national touring artists (Loxsly, Beth Wood, Moistboys and Bug), and I am a percussion instructor at Covington and O Henry Middle Schools as well as Austin High School. I have been playing guitar for over 25 years. I have worked with kids, adults and groups for the last nine years, most notably the teen band Residual Kid, who in 2015 was signed by Sire Records to a 1.7 million dollar record contract and are now touring worldwide. It would be my pleasure to assist you in any way I can.

About

I've been taking drumming lessons with Mae off and on for a year, and she's fantastic! Patient, knowledgeable, breaks complex rhythms down into smaller parts and gives you ways to remember them -- and suddenly the group is producing a wonderful polyrhythmic joyful noise. She makes drumming accessible and a lot of fun (and she uses her drumming for good, raising money for a local charity, which is great).

Hi! I'm Matt. I offer drum and beginner piano lessons in the Austin area. For drum lessons, all ages are welcome at any experience level. For piano lessons, all ages are welcome. These lessons are geared towards beginners. My teaching methods come from the accumulation of 2 decades of performing, recording, studying, and teaching music professionally. My focus for all my students is applying the skills we learn on the instrument directly and playing along with music. This makes learning more enjoyable, and the skills become internalized more efficiently. Please check out my website for more details, or you can call or text to set up a lesson. Thanks! Matt Danko

About

Chris is an awesome drum instructor. As a drummer myself, I can attest to the fact that he knows his stuff. He instructed my son, and was thorough, and professional. He was on time, and would even go long if necessary. He is great with a 7 yr old kid, and able to get the best out of someone with that attention span! We plan to have him teach again when our schedule permits.

John is an excellent teacher. He has an incredible passion for his craft and is able to convey this in his teaching methods. When I started taking lessons 2 months ago, I had never played an instrument before and I knew nothing about music. John is intent on helping his students build a solid foundation through learning the fundamental drum rudiments and understanding how to read music. Additionally, he gives exercises to work on between lessons and posts videos of these exercises to Dropbox so they can be referenced while practicing. Because of this, I have been able to learn quickly and it seems like John is teaching me something new every time we get together. The lessons are a ton of fun and they fly by. I would highly recommend John as a teacher!

About

Welcome to Drum Lessons Austin! Emphasis is on playing, not talking your ear off. Instructor Pedro Horta accompanies you on piano (or drums for piano students), so you get used to how to "play in a band." It's a lot of fun and hones your ability to listen and keep a steady time while rockin' out with other musicians. Pedro has a wide range of students, including children with learning disabilities. He has a B.A. in music from Amherst College, MA and over 10 years of teaching experience. With each individual student, Pedro offers exercises, songs, and techniques to practice that will help you begin seeing positive results immediately. Drum lessons are tailored to your musical tastes and level of commitment. Never fear! Much of what is thought of as difficult to play or understand in music is only mysterious until it is explained and practiced. In addition to learning by ear, all of Pedro's students learn how to read and eventually write out their own drum and piano compositions. Just wait; you'll be groovin' and sight reading by the end of the first lesson! Lessons are for all ages and levels right here in Austin, TX. Pedro has a full studio complement of amps, keyboard, and recording gears. Starting a band? Invite your friends and family over for a 'band practice.' Patrick's first trip to our home was fantastic. Our son learned quite a bit and was able to play some basic riffs after only his first lesson. Great personality and very patient with our son. We would recommend him to others.

About

I am a member of the Vic Firth Education team and I tailor each individual lesson to fit the needs of my students and work very hard to make the lessons both educational and fun. I believe that it is very important to have a teacher that is passionate about the music and about education. I work on all aspects of music and focus on achieving goals that I set with the students. I teach how to read music and rhythms and work on the technical aspect of the music. I also have students play along to music that they enjoy and teach them the skills to be able to improvise and create drum grooves, melodies, and rhythms of their own. I have the tools needed to teach the students what they want to learn and teach proper techniques and motions to ensure that no one gets hurt!

About

Beginner, intermediate and advanced students are welcome. I have a studio in South Austin. Since the age of 15, I have been performing. I have played in rock, jazz, pop, Zydeco, cover, funk and experimental projects. As a top drummer for hire in town, I'm the guy you call on short notice when your drummer can't make it for some reason or quits. I also play in a classic rock band and in a variety band. I have extensive stage experience as well as studio experience. I am specifically interested in students who are prepared to take their abilities and stage dynamics to the next level. I teach from the perspective that some musicians have a lot to say (dynamics and phrasing) and some musicians have a large vocabulary (many chops). We will work on what you have to express and say and how to say it through the most passionate and powerful of instruments. Also, I have worked for a Fortune 500 company and have been in the business world for numerous years as a headhunter and consultant. You can rely on a conscientious and professional experience. I also have numerous years of experience as an adult educator and a coach. Rates are $35 per hour at my studio near Riverside Dr. and Pleasant Valley. I love drums, and I love teaching. Call me! Let's set your free first lesson.
