Introduction: Every student arrives with a different set of needs. Some need to learn from the very beginning- how to hold the stick or fundemental movement around the drum set etc. Other students need more advance direction like poly- rhythmic understanding or truly understanding their role within an ensemble (band). I really enjoy walking the path of understanding at all levels. The greatest reward in teaching is seeing the light come on when a student has that sudden awareness that they have made progress. I have had many great teachers and as I have progressed in my own musical journey, I have found it necessary to pass on the knowledge that has been bestowed upon me. It is the cementing piece in completing the circle of my own musical journey.

John is an excellent teacher. He has an incredible passion for his craft and is able to convey this in his teaching methods. When I started taking lessons 2 months ago, I had never played an instrument before and I knew nothing about music. John is intent on helping his students build a solid foundation through learning the fundamental drum rudiments and understanding how to read music. Additionally, he gives exercises to work on between lessons and posts videos of these exercises to Dropbox so they can be referenced while practicing. Because of this, I have been able to learn quickly and it seems like John is teaching me something new every time we get together. The lessons are a ton of fun and they fly by. I would highly recommend John as a teacher!

John is the man. He knows his stuff like none other. A master of the craft, plain and simple. His teaching style is patient and understanding, which I totally appreciate as someone new to the world of percussion. If you're looking for a drumming teacher (beginner or not) look no further. Seriously.

I've been taking drum lessons from John for a few years now and can't say enough good things about the experience. He's patient, kind, supportive and has brought things out in my playing that I never knew were possible.

To put it simply, John should change his name to Yoda. I found John 4 years ago and have been taking lessons once/week ever since. John is an unbelievable player, mentor, and friend. He has taught me to make music, not just noise, and has gone well above and beyond countless times to help me develop as a drummer. He truly has a passion/gift for teaching and I would highly recommend him to any aspiring drummer or current drummer looking to take their playing to the next level.
