Our decision to work with Austin Home Solutions was not based on price, although it was a consideration, but on Derek Schmitt’s contagious enthusiasm. He made it clear he wanted the job and emphatically assured us we would not be disappointed. Our rental property needed a thorough cleaning before Mr. Schmitt could start painting and we were prepared to hire a cleaning service, but he offered to handle this aspect of our refurbishing project as well, which saved us time and effort. Within a week Mr. Schmitt had completely cleaned our property, repaired serious water damage in the bedroom closet, painted the entire condo including the trim and replace the outlets and dimmer switches. He even got the TV up and running.
Mr. Schmitt updated us with daily texts and photos and though we had never worked with him before, or had any personal references, we were completely at ease and felt our investment was safe and in good hands. Best of all, his work was impeccable. Quite simply, we were very impressed.
Mr. Schmitt’s quote for our job was not the lowest offer we received, nor was it the highest, but for the quality of work provided, the agreement was a very good value. We look forward to working with Austin Home Solutions again in the future and without hesitation we give our highest recommendation.

Derek and his team did a terrific job painting my condo in a short time period. Whenever there was any small issues Derek took care of it without hesitation. He also saved me money buy making suggestions on paint ant trim. I would highly recommend him!

Derek recently completed an entire home transformation - returning a bright orange bathroom to clean white, fixing walls and painting the entire inside, and turning my mustard-yellow home into a beautiful blue one.
From the initial request, Derek was responsive and helped me choose the “right” blue, with pictures and samples. After I thought everything was complete, he even came back to fix a mold spot and repaint it. His attention to detail and quality of work is top notch.
Derek was a pleasure to work with - he was efficient and ensured my home and belongings were protected and spotless upon completion. I strongly recommend Derek and Austin Home Solutions for any painting needs!

Derek and his assistant (Amando, I hope I spelled that right!) were completely incredible and I would hire them again in a heartbeat! Derek came right away and gave me a fair and reasonable estimate for fixing some rotting wood on the exterior of our house and then painting the entire thing! My husband and I struggled to pick a color and Derek texted with me the entire time and gave me suggestions and feedback. He recommended that we paint the brick which I hadn't even considered and it looks AMAZING! All of the rotting wood, which resulted from the previous owners neglect was completely taken care of by him. I told him originally that he could just quick fix it with putty and he said no way we are doing this the right way! And I'm so glad because the rot went further back than expected. He also did an incredible job cleaning and prepping the exterior before painting--the outside of our house was disgusting with algae and mold growing and he spent a long time scrubbing it before doing anything else. We were very pleased and thankful for how meticulous he was and how much he cared about everything being done the way we liked it. Even at the end, after my husband did a walk around, we realized that the back door would look better painted like the trim, so Derek said he'd come back and do that for us. We are very pleased with the results and with the experience we had with Austin Home Solutions! I have already recommended them to a friend!

Derek and his team were easy to work with, thorough, very neat workers (we had new carpet in one room), and the rooms look beautiful. He communicated professionally and promptly and I can definitely recommend Austin Home Solutions. We would hire them again. We had a standard bedroom and small bathroom painted, including ceilings and doors, trim. All work was completed in one day.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
There are so many varieties on what we do. Everything from if we have to go up and down ladders, to the color, difficulty, or risk. We really negotiate everything individually.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I always communicate to ensure complete mutual understanding of the task and potential obstacles. I also will provide options if I see and opportunity to save the customer money.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BBA from the University of Houston. I have worked in or been around construction and equipment all my life.
