Ask lots of questions. Ask to see their portfolio of work. Ask for references, so you can talk to their previous clients. Ask if they are insured and/or accredited. In the end, you not only want to work with an event planner that you can trust has the expertise and vendor relations to get the job done, but also one where your personalities match and you feel comfortable communicating with.
