Training with Ryan at Functional Strength ATX is the best decision I’ve made for my body since switching from office chairs to a standing desk (which I still don’t actually use, but it felt like a step). I came in feeling like a stiff, overcooked noodle with the mobility of a folding chair and the strength of a wet paper towel. Fast forward a few months and I’m moving better, lifting heavier, and not grunting every time I tie my shoes. Ryan’s the kind of coach who actually gets it—smart, low-key hilarious, and somehow always knows exactly what your body needs (even when you don’t). He’ll correct your squat form without making you feel like a baby deer, and make mobility drills feel like a badge of honor instead of punishment. If you’re looking for a trainer who knows his stuff, keeps it real, and doesn’t force you into a one-size-fits-all program—Ryan’s your guy.

I’ve been overweight my entire life, not without trying. I felt like this has been my lifelong battle. I tried every diet under the sun to varying degrees of success. But I always put it back on. A couple years ago I slipped and tweaked my hip. Putting on even more weight and having difficulty walking, I had had enough. I found Ryan over at functional strength atx. He’s been absolutely great. He really took the time to explain all the little details I had questions about. Especially at the beginning, I think I was texting him a couple times a day hahah. He was always very responsive and helpful. I did feel like I had a partner. Finally have been able to lose over 60 pounds and keep it off, it’s been about 2 years and there’s no turning back. Through weight lifting and eating right, it’s become just apart of my life. I’ve learned so much from Ryan and I’ve never been happier!

10/10 recommend! Ryan has been helping me for over two years with personalized workouts and nutrition. He listens to my needs and helps me reach my goals, while being the best supporter. He is extremely knowledgeable in various areas of fitness, and personalizes workouts for my specific needs. I previously struggled with working out because of a tear in my LCL and ACL. When I met Ryan he was quick to curate workouts, stretches, mobility exercises, and strength training to help build up my muscles around my knee. He has brought a lot of value to my fitness journey and would trust him over and over with my fitness and health journey!
