FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing structure for singing, piano, folk guitar, & songwriting lessons: $40- half hour $60- 45 minutes $80 - hour
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
With singing customers, I ask what your goals are, what level you are at as a singer, what range you have if you know it, and what are some of the songs you wish to learn to sing well. We set up a weekly lesson (or more if needed, if there is an upcoming show or audition) along with a plan for a minimum of 3 practices in between voice lessons. The process is similar with my piano, folk guitar, and songwriting students. We will focus on your musical goals and tailor make a lesson and practice plan that will allow you to achieve those goals.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied singing and piano at the University of Maryland, College Park. I have studied with many vocal instructors world wide, including Seth Riggs of Los Angeles, California (Speech Level Singing), and Peter Giles of Canterbury, England (Science of Singing). I have also studied with piano teachers in classical, rock, and jazz styles. On folk guitar, I focus on finger picking and flat picking, geared mainly for the singer/songwriter who wishes to accompany her/himself on the guitar. With songwriting, I studied with Pat Pattison from Berklee College of music. My original songs have been played on over 200 radio and TV stations world wide, including the show "UnderCurrents" on NPR radio.
