I am an experienced pianist offering beginner in-home piano lessons for students of all ages. From classical and jazz to contemporary and pop, I can help give you or your child the tools and music theory foundation to learn to read music on their own - and have fun doing it!
I provide all teaching materials and come to your home for 30-minute, 45-minute or 1-hour lessons.

For event entertainment, I can provide my own piano. For ongoing in-home lessons, students MUST have a full size piano of their own.

I've been a musician for many years (not piano), but there's been gaps in my knowledge that I never quite filled on my own. Taking lessons has given me a structured path instead of just collecting tips from books and YouTube videos.
One of the biggest differences has been learning skills like sight-reading, something I'd never successfully started on my own. Alex gives me clear, achievable goals to work on during the week, and I've found myself practicing the things I need to improve rather than only the things I already enjoy playing.
Online resources are incredibly helpful, but they can't replace having a great teacher sitting beside you. There are countless subtle details in technique, posture, hand movement, and the physical act of playing that simply don't come across on a screen. Those are the kinds of things Alex has helped me recognize and improve.
If you're serious about becoming a better pianist, not just learning a few songs, I highly recommend taking lessons with her.

My 16 yo daughter loves to work with Alex. She is such a great teacher and works extremely well with beginners. Alex is always on time & ready to have a fun lesson. I find my daughter playing & practicing on her own with me reminding her. We are happy with Alex.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
As a new student, I will first assess your experience in sight reading and music theory. True beginners start with the basics while those with some experience can follow a program designed to start training where they left off.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am classically trained in piano and music theory. I have been playing piano for over 25 years. I have been teaching piano for over 10 years.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have been classically trained in piano and music theory since I was 7. I used my classical training to start teaching beginning piano in 2009.
