FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I generally charge $30/hour for most mixing work and $40/hour for mastering dependent on the scale of the project (e.g. a project requiring multiple tracks' mixes or masters to compliment one another as a cohesive work such an EP or album may cost more hourly than multiple standalone tracks).
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first thing I generally discuss with new clients is the scope of the work that needs doing; how close to complete do you feel your tracks are currently? Are the recordings raw stems or has their been some preliminary editing done already that I should make note of? How involved would you like to be in the mixing process? And how much creative liberty would you like me to exercise when mixing your work in order to achieve your vision for it? The next step before work begins is generally an initial listen through of the tracks that I'm to be working on to gauge for myself how they strike me on first impression, what I can hear they might need in the future, and how intensive the process for achieving the clients' goal will be. This generally is followed up by discussing my clients' budget; what are they willing to spend to achieve their vision and does that budget fall in line with the breadth of the work that needs doing? The only way to ensure everyone walks away happy is to be honest, with myself and with you.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's Degree with First Class Honors in Music Mixing and Mastering and Music Technology from the London College of Music.
