What a nice, helpful guy. What I thought was a problem turned out to be such an easy fix that no replacement or repair was needed. If he wanted to, he could have really gouged me and told me I needed repairs or replacement and I wouldn't have been any wiser. Glad there are still good, honest people out there. Will definitely use again!

I called Infix to repair my Cooktop. The knobs to one of the burners was broken and after dealing with 2 unprofessional , tardy technicians sent by my crapy Home warranty company (FYI which is Choice) for over a month ,i decided to take care of it myself and went with Infix. They were very prompt and took care of the job in less than 24 hours. they were onetime , kept me posted through out the process and most importantly finished the job sooner than expected. My only complaint would be that the part that they had to replace was more expensive through them but it was still a good trade off for the promptness and thorough job they did. Kudos.

The Microwave oven part of my dual oven unit stopped working. Looking at the price of new units we decided to try to repair the old unit first. Robertappliance responded to my call and arrived to troubleshoot the issue that same afternoon! The technician (Edgar) was excellent, he gave us a courtesy call when he was headed to our house, arrived on time, and quickly got to work. The unit needing repair was 30 years old so parts may have been an issue but Edgar had several parts sources and was able to locate the part. Edgar made an appointment to return the next day to complete the repair. The next day Edgar installed the new part, however other parts in the power train then needed replacement as well, again no problem for Edgar, he located the parts, found them at discounted prices, and returned the 3rd day as scheduled. In addition to his replacement parts, Edgar also found a problem with the unit motherboard and was able to fix those as well. His attention to detail, resources for parts, and overall knowledge contributed nicely to a good experience. I would highly recommend Robertappliance and especially Edgar.

Would recommend this company...called they came out within 2 hours. Dryer was fixed...Lady in office was very nice and kept me informed as to when they would get her...The guy was friendly and explained everything that he was doing. Reasonable price. If you have them repair the problem you do not pay for the service call.

My fridge hadn’t been functioning properly, it was not making ice and it wasn’t cooling enough. I contacted this company that was referred to me by a coworker. The experience was amazing. The Technician notified me when he was on his way. He was very punctual and professional. Took care of the issue and now it’s working like new. This is my second time using this company. I will definitely be using them in the future.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
