Awesome experience!! Although this was our first time, you can bet we will continue using Animal Talker in the future!!!! We were on vacation out of country, our first time leaving our dog with 'strangers', but they would send daily texts and pictures to keep us in the loop, and hoping we would not be too sad....it worked!! We highly recommend them!!

I had to go out of town for a few days and needed someone to watch my pets, cat and dog, while I was away. Julia was fantastic! My pets wanted for nothing, Audrey(dog) was fed on schedule, walked regularly and even the litter box was well cared for. I had a family member stopping in as well and they told me they didn't have to do a thing. Outstanding service. I will be using Julia's services exclusively, when needed.

I have had Theresa and Stephanie come by every Tuesday and Thursday for three weeks now and my boys are so happy each day I get home because of these two ladies. WAGS Dog Walking has seriously saved my life and my boy's lives during the work week. The daily notes are so cute and helpful. Great service!

Paula communicated very well. My dog is very shy hand had some bad experiences with other groomers. Paula was very patient with my dog. She let me know that she wanted to try to make my dog not fear being groomed. When she completed the groom, my dog came out happy and looked great. Paula was professional and very kind. We look forward to working with her again. Thanks Paula for your dedication and kindness!

Myself, my family and our pets have been customers of Tri-County K9 Academy for over 12 years. Whether our dogs are just starting obedience training, are working out for a dog trial, if we have a pet we have a behavior issue we need help with, or if I need assistance with my Service Dog, both Darryl and Tammy have been patient, excellent instructors and their daughters are great helpers. The environment at Tri-County K9 is set up to be safe, educational and rewarding for both animals and humans. They have watched over several of our dogs when we have had to leave town on short notice and we have always come home to happy, clean dogs that you can just tell had a well rounded fun time. Tri-County K9 Academy is an excellent experience for all whether you are training with your own dog, having your dog trained, adopting one of the many dogs rescued and rehabbed at Tri-County, needing boarding, or becoming a better dog owner. Tri-County K9 Academy should be your first stop for all your K9 needs.

Great dog walking service, but having a hyper active Brittany puppy meant that day care was a better option for the price. Great, friendly staff and were fantastic with my dog!!

My previous dog walker quit on me very abruptly. KW walkers was able to start right away. Now Im glad my previous dog walker quit because KW has done a great job with my two dogs. Especially my big boy Max who could be a bit difficult to handle. Weve been very pleased with their services and the doggies love them too!

Our dog had a barking problem with visitors and Carmen offered several solutions and even provided the tools at no cost. After two reasonably priced visits, the problem is significantly reduced and we now have the means to continue the training. Very happy with Carmen's patience and assistance.

Katie has been walking my 3 dogs for about a year and she is great. She is very dependable and my dogs love her. She has also helped us with watching our kitty when we are out of town, including giving her some medication. I highly recommend this company.

Jen and I had messaged one another in order to discuss helping our dog Vanilla. Unfortunately, we are a very far distance away in order to do visits. However, she still took the time to help us as much as possible via e-mail, sending helpful tips, videos, and more. THAT is something you don't see often, and I greatly appreciate it. We are definitely going to utilize what she gave us!

Bree has dog sat for me, done yard cleanup and dog grooming. She is dependable, and has a knack for dogs. My Shepard and Chihuahua absolutely love her and her dog Kimbo, and so do we! They have play dates together when we're not traveling, just so Biscuit and Harley can visit with her and Kimbo. I highly recommend her services to anyone in need in the Houston area. I give her the utmost recommendation and I refer my family & friends to her all the time! Karie Salvesen.

Matt was wonderful from the get go. He came and introduced himself before watching our dog shiner. It's always important to feel comfortable with the person watching your home and animals. Matt made the process effortless and without worry. We recommend him to anyone needing pet services.

Our impressions from having Shannon care for our dog, Grady: Shannon is very easy going, which quickly comforted Grady on the initial visit and made him feel at ease. Since Grady is a very active puppy, we were surprised to see him take to Shannon so naturally. She showed up when promised, followed our instructions on how we wanted Grady cared for, and returned him on time. We’re very comfortable having Shannon pet-sit Grady during the day, as well as during our away-from-home weekends. Great choice!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a dog walker do?

We all know our dogs love going on long, adventure-filled walks, but jobs and family and commuting can make it difficult to give them the leash time they deserve. You can hire a professional dog walker to make sure your furry friend gets adequate exercise and outdoor time each day. A professional dog walker may be an individual contractor or work for a dedicated dog-walking company. In either case, you want to make sure the pro has the appropriate insurance in case of an emergency. Some people opt to give the dog walker a key to their house; others to have them pick up the dog from the yard. Dog walking can happen as often as multiple times per day, or just a few times a month as needed. Here are some questions to ask when you are interviewing a new dog walker:

    • Will you or someone else be walking my dog?
    • Do you have a backup plan if you can’t make it for a scheduled walk?
    • Will you walk my dog by itself, or do you walk several dogs at once?
    • What are your different walk routes?
    • When will you pick up and drop off?
    • How will we communicate?
    • Do I have to commit to a schedule or are you flexible?
    • What’s your cancellation policy?
    • What’s your response plan if my dog gets injured or becomes sick?
    • How and how often do I pay you?
    • Do you offer package pricing if I buy multiple dog walks up front?

How much do dog walkers charge?

The cost of dog walking depends on several factors including length and frequency of dog walks, the number of dogs on the walk, distance to your house, and any additional services you request. The national average cost range for a dog walk is $10-$20, but that price will vary based on where you live in the country and the regional cost of living and doing business.

The longer the dog walk, the higher your costs will be. Dog walkers offer a range of walk lengths, from 15-minute potty breaks to long hikes of 120 minutes or more. For example, a dog walker may charge $15 for a 15-minute walk and $35 for a 35-minute walk. Requesting that your dog be the only animal on the walk will typically mean a higher cost than if you permit your dog to be walked in a pack of dogs. You may be able to get a discounted rate if you have more than one dog to be walked. For example, a professional dog walker may charge $28 for one dog or $33 for two dogs on a 60-minute walk. If you need additional help — like feeding the dogs or giving them medication — dog walkers may be able to provide this service at an additional fee. Dog walkers may charge higher rates for walking your dogs on holidays.
