Rubbish! Rip off....
AE Tech Services's reply
We pride ourselves on friendly affordable services, what about your experience was "rubbish" or a "rip off". Please let us know so we can see what we can do to make the situation right.

They have repaired several of my Mac and PC computers and Iphones. They were fast, friendly and well knowledgeable. Have referred others and will continue to do so. And their prices are very reasonable.

They had my laptop for a month. First they said it had a virus. Then the motherboard was out. Then the wifi card and fan were out as well! Really? All of a sudden everything was broken? They supposedly fixed all that & guess what! Still doesn't work! I bought an iPad to replace the still-broken laptop. I will never use this place again!

If i'm remembering this job correctly, just to get all the information cleared up here, its an older dell latitude laptop. Core 2 duo generation or older celeron, ddr2 ram. It appears this computer was sitting not being used for some time before being brought in our shop. The machine was an old XP machine. The video chipset allowed for support of Aero effects in win7 and was fully supported for win 10. It originally came in with its current old infected XP install. We upgraded the RAM in the machine (Free from our recycling program) to make it work quicker with a modern OS, performed a FULL physical cleaning on the laptop, and removed malware while upgrading the OS to windows 10. As soon as the Old graphics chipset started working with win 10, it was too much for it to handle (age of the machine). After the on board video card chip shorted out due to overheating (due to age and the sudden use) the motherboard needed to be replaced. We sourced a used part (only things available for this model are used, due to its age) and replaced the motherboard. With the motherboard installed, the original Fan and WiFi card no longer worked. It appears some error state kept them operating on the original shorting board, but when they were on a different board, they did not allow the components to function. Although being advised NOT TO USE THE COMPUTER AT ALL until the fan was replaced, the customer informed us that she would continue using it with a fan pointed at it (as she had before come to find out which compounded all of these problems for us). We replaced the fan (at customer cost for part), and the WiFi card (free! from our recycling program). I tested the machine, it booted, connected to wifi, and the fan was functioning before calling Becky for pickup. The old machine had new life in it, and was actually pretty snappy. We offer a 60 day guarantee for all our repairs, so if its not working properly (as it was when it left our shop) it is covered under that guarantee. Its always amazing to me when people dig up old machines, and think they can just revive them with ease when they never tell us the specifics of how they abused their machines prior to us seeing them. Most times we are able to upgrade and get an old machine working like new (or better than new) and its awesome all around. Unfortunately, Becky's laptop had a little harder of a time getting back up and running. I am sorry if you failed to understand that ALL of the model specific parts for your computer had to be ordered separately as needed and that it takes time for things to be shipped to us. I'm also sorry that you clearly didn't understand the technical reasons everything was happening. its not that "all of a sudden everything was broken". you brought in an outdated, barely used, falling apart machine and we were able to revive it after putting alot of time and effort into it and working with you on the bill, i spent HOURS on this project and i capped out labor with a tiered service, i believe i should have charged you Hourly instead, so you would've understood everything i did for this machine. If you were unwilling to wait for parts to arrive to repair this old machine, you should have communicated to us that you no longer wished to get the machine serviced. All we did was turn an unusable machine into a working machine with the latest OS from microsoft and got nothing but resistance and impatience from the customer, and clearly a lack of understanding of the technical reasons the machine was with us from Dec 5 - Jan 14 a little over a month, most of which was waiting for the motherboard, and CPU fan to arrive, along with being closed for christmas/new years, and some of this time the computer was in the customers possession while waiting for parts. In short, if its not working and its under 60 days from pickup, use your guarantee, get it fixed FOR FREE!!!!, but you WILL have to wait for any parts that need to be exchanged/replaced/etc.
