Hired on Thumbtack

Hired on Thumbtack

Joseph is a very nice gentleman to work with who has the best of intentions and manners. However, the communication and follow through fell very short of expectations. While his work product is of high quality, the effort required to get there on my part was unreasonable. His personal circumstances continued to push the job out and what should have been an afternoon project took over a week to complete. Without a cell phone, he was difficult to get a hold of and often arrived later than communicated and agreed upon. Again, he is a very nice and respectable gentleman who completed a high quality product - it just was wasn't worth the effort, frustration, or time to get there.

Hired on Thumbtack

Well, I suppose I should have read the reviews first. We had a scheduled time set for Mr. Joseph to arrive, however, when that time came and went, I called him and he stated that he was helping a friend and the time got away from him. I can understand if you're on another job and it takes longer to complete, but helping a friend when you have a hired project to complete? Even a professional courtesy to call and say "hey, I'm running a little behind" but not even that. I had to call him and he stated he was just a few minutes away from calling me. SMH Mr. Joseph did offer to come the next day, but that was not a good day for us and I rescheduled for later in the day. My wife and I then decided to just cancel since we had other things to get done that day. I think I should just stay away from Thumbtack; this is the second time I've had a hired person to tell me they were helping someone else at the time that my project was scheduled.

He was a very nice and polite gentleman. From a business perspective he was not what I expected. He arrived onsite late without the proper tools to get the job done. So I decided to give him a second chance because things happen. He called the next day and ask me could he reschedule because he wasn’t feeling well at that point I knew he wasn’t a good fit for the task at hand.
J Arts Theatre and Gallery's reply
I did not have the proper tools, because I was not made aware of how tall the window actually was. I needed a taller ladder in order to complete the project, and most of the time I go somewhere to access the situation, and then plan a time to do the actual work. We shook hands, which I understand as a gentlemen's agreement and then he decided to go with another option. I did take the time to explain how to mount the rod, with all recommendations and suggestions. I attempted to begin the task, realizing my ladder was not tall enough. I do not carry all of my ladders/tools around to each project. I wish Quincey the best with his project.
