FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I typically like to hear what the customer has in mind first. Once I hear their ideas, I typically will sketch out what I heard them say, and then I modify that with my vision which normally includes elements of perspective. We talk on the phone, gain agreement on direction. Discuss price and budget and settle on something we agree with as a starting point. Many when they see what I produce at the level we discuss are thrilled. Then, I show what it could look like if I did some additional work. Most ask me to do that and are thrilled to pay a little extra. Regardless, my customers have all been thrilled to date with what i produced and the post associated with the work.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Self-taught. Developed my own unique style. And, because I didn’t want to get locked into one subject matter or type of work, I have stayed very broad in what I do. Some are experts in one type of work. I want to grow across all styles.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have never had an art class. I was coaching my sons’ ball teams when both went into other things. I was looking for a way to relate to my sons. One was in an art class that required nightly pencil sketches. I started doing his homework sketches with him so we could have that to talk about. My other son went into drama, and I went as a dad to help on set builds. Before I knew it, I was being asked to design and build sets, helping another gentleman who had been doing it for 30 years. At first, I just helped him so he could elongate his career. Then, he, as one who was trained by a master craftsmen, taught me what he knew. Put it together, and now I get asked by many theaters to build sets, and my painting and art has takin on a style all its own. I also started chalk art during the Covid pandemic just for something to do, and my art was picked up by the news and ended up having stories run across the country and even internationally.
