We were beyond pleased with the service, professionalism, and outcome of our pictures we received from Chris! Words cannot describe what a fantastic photographer he is! You can tell he truly loves what he does, and the pictures show his absolute talent! He was easy to work with before the wedding day, quick to respond and very understanding of any requests we had. Day of the wedding he was on time, and worked with our difficult group with no problems. If I ever have to recommend a photographer to anyone getting married in Houston Texas, I will without a doubt recommend him. Incredible!!!

Matt was our photographer for our wedding and I can't say how happy I was to have found him! we got some really great shots! He was flexible and able to work around my entire schedule and took every necessary shot! My husband and I were on a tight budget and photography can be extreme, but Matt gave us an amazing deal! we got the main shots we wanted and it worked for us! I have hired him for late september to do our bridals! we had a crazy wedding in july and my husband and I want to take some outdoor photos of him and I so we called Matt! he really did do an amazing job for what he charges! His young, and still learning but he sure gets the job done! GREAT customer service and reliable!! I SUPER recommend him! we love you MATT - The Hsu's

Your Party's camera was AWESOME! The pictures came out amazing. I had a different photoboothfor my wedding and they weren't nearly as good as this company. The pictures printed out clear and crisp looking, everyone in the photo got a copy of the picture and the props were great. It was truly the hit of the party. I will be using them for every single one of my events.

Marlon was a joy to work with. We procrastinated on getting things done on our wedding, but when he said he was available, he did all he could to make sure any and all requests we had in terms of song choices or song genre were heard and acted upon. Our guests definitely weren't the dancing kind, but he was still able to read the crowd and get people dancing and enjoying themselves. Without his work, we would not have been able to give our wedding guests at our reception such a joyous and fun time to celebrate the love that my wife and I share.

We had a wedding photography with Albert last week. We are very impressed with his work and services. He discussed with us all the details about the ceremony in advance, arrived ahead of time, catched all the important moments in our ceremony. Through his professional photographer's eyes, the photos come up in very artistic way. We are completely satisfied with her service. A great great photographer that you don't want to miss. We definitely will recommend you use him and will refer him to our other friends who need photo-shoot.

Kevin shot my daughter's bridal portraits and he was absolutely OUTSTANDING. When selecting someone to shoot bridal shots, I wanted to make sure we selected the perfect photographer to capture this once in a lifetime event. Kevin met those expectations and then some. He was very professional and really displayed his knowledge of capturing the right angle in order to produce the perfect photo. My daughter's wedding photos were stunning!! I would recommend Kevin to anyone who's looking for a great photographer at a great price!!

I only had 10 months to plan my wedding. I had difficulty finding a photographer and videographer separately, so I turned to Thumbtack for assistance. Thankfully I ran across this husband & wife duo! Not only did they offer an affordable package (day of photography + videography), they also included our engagement shoot! On the day of, it seemed they were everywhere! And were flexible and accommodating after a cold front derailed our outside bridal pics. They needed little instruction and caught a number of candid shots I'm really grateful for. Roughy two weeks after the wedding we received the YouTube teaser and digital images. With the official wedding video coming the same week. Throughout the entire (stressful) experience, JTM was by far one of my favorite and easiest vendors to work with. Would definitely recommend!

Sharon and her team provided videography services for a wedding for my clients in October. As an event planner, i was quite impressed with her follow thru and commitment to my detailed time line. Her experience as a director and producer added a sence of flair to our experience with her you won't get with other videographers in the wedding industry. I would highly recommend her again when it comes to shooting a wedding.

Lori of Savvy Couture Photography was a godsend! I needed a wedding photographer with only 2 weeks notice, and not only was Lori able to accommodate me and my location (which was totally across the city of Houston for her), but she was able to make time to meet with me and my now-husband to ensure that we get the types of photos that we wanted for our special day. Very little instruction for her was necessary as she is proactive in taking photos that fit your style. Thank you, Lori (and Jackie!) for capturing our short, but very meaningful event! We loved the photos!

Daniel was an excellent DJ for my father’s wedding and we could not ask for anyone better! He also provided photography for the wedding along with his wife who assisted him with taking photos whenever he was DJing. They both were very friendly, kind and extremely helpful throughout the entire ceremony which was beyond our expectations. The wedding was Vietnamese/American fusion and Daniel was able to accommodate both Vietnamese and English music to entertain all of our guest, which was definitely a plus. We would highly recommend him based on our overall experience from the initial meeting to the actual wedding!!

Mr Loyd is so nice. It was great having him as our wedding photographer. He made it on a short notice. He made it to court early even before we got there. He took beautiful pictures and was giving ideas on taking the pictures. He really loves working with peoples and he has 25 years plus experience and it really shows, so if you’re looking for a photographer i hope your search ends here cause you’ll not be disappointed. Thank you so much Jimmy

Working with Chris for both my professional head shot photo and later for our wedding was a great experience. Chris is professional and yet relaxed and fun to work with. We love the way he was able to capture our important day with photos we would never have thought to ask for. The quality of his work is way beyond our expectations. One of our friends summed it up for us by saying that they have never seen better pictures- fun, intimate, special- first class! Thanks, Chris!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.
