Working with Corey Barnes and the Cordobe Solutions crew was a very positive experience for me. At first I had my doubts and this was my 2nd attempt at scheduling a move from my apartment. The first move was a complete mishap. Mr. Barnes made everything right for the 2nd attempt taking a discount off the entire job! I was really impressed with that as well. Then the day of the job the movers were at my apartment before the scheduled time, they were strategic in the movement of all my packed boxes. They were very respectful and considerate of my precious fragile items and all of my pieces of furniture. Brandon kept reassuring me as the client that this was an easy job and that he was carefully monitoring what needed to be done to make the move successful. I quickly booked this company for my final furniture move and cancelled the other movers I had scheduled. I would honestly recommend them for future moving jobs to my friends and colleagues.

Highly recommended! Showed up during snow-maggedon when other movers called and canceled on me the day of. Loaded a 1-bedroom/garage in 1 1/2 hr. Had an extra person without charging. Reyes himself showed up to lend a hand. Very professional, courteous, and efficient. Highly recommended.

The move went well overall although the movers were 45 minutes late arriving, I'm assuming because they came from another part of town. They handled my furniture with great care and set everything up.

I originally scheduled moving with Cordobe LLC for tuesday 8/16 at noon. I called them at around 12:15 just to get an idea when they would be coming. I just wanted some form of eta, I would have been happy if they at least gave me some eta even if it was a 3 hour eta, but the office said they could not get a crew and did not know eta but would call me once they got a hold of the grew. A little after 3pm (3 hours after scheduled move time), I still had not hear back from Cordobe, so I called Elite Movers to see if they had anything available that day or the next. They were able to fit me in with an arrival of 1pm-2pm on 8/17 with a call to let me know when on the way. I also had scheduled people to unmount my Tv for me, and they cancelled on me too. At 1:03, I got a call from them asking about my gate code. I did not get the call that they were on the way, but I work only 1 mile away from where they were. I managed to get to the apartment when they were pulling up (I went the back way through the apartment complex). I show them to the apartment, I show them what all needs to be moved. I informed them that the place I am going to is on the 3rd floor. I do not believe the leader of the crew, an older guy, read the quote because he seemed surprised to hear about going to a 3rd floor, and surprised about getting a tv from a storage room at my apartment complex on the way, both of which were discussed with company when scheduling. The older guy kept calling the office, and I could hear him complaining about doing another move with a 3rd floor apartment that day. This complaining (granted not to me) started while we were at the starting point which was on the ground floor. I started to feel bad, so I started to try to help a little putting some of the smaller things into my car. I have already done a good amount of moving boxes on my own over the weekend. I originally planned on being lazy while the movers were doing their thing because I could barely walk Sunday with all the moving I did Friday and Saturday, but hearing that guy on the phone made me feel a little bad. I asked them if they could help unmount the TV. I was not asking for it to get mounted, just get it either off the mount or off the wall since I cannot carry my tv (I am 5'1, I simply do not have the size to be able to carry it alone). They said that is something they normally do not do but they will take a look at it. I told them if they cannot, I would figure something out. They were able to get it off the mount for me. I then had a printer that was too heavy for me to carry alone. They did not have room for it if I wanted my other tv moved, so I rearranged stuff in my car to put it in my car instead of their truck. That was the last thing from the ground floor apartment. We then went to the storage room at the apartment complex, and got my other tv out of there. It barely fit in their truck, but we got it to fit. They followed me to the new apartment (only around 0.25-0.5 miles away). They started to unload the truck, and I unloaded my car with the little things I had put into it. They unloaded things into the hallways for awhile. While they did that, I unloaded the smaller things I had put into my car. They brought up the Washer and Dryer first, but once brought up we realized the bifold door to the laundry room would cause a problem. So they put the W&D in spots out of the way to be dealt with later. One of the guys saw the stacks and stacks of boxes already at the new apartment and made a comment about how I already did a lot of stuff on my own. I had no kitchen counter space because of all the bins boxes and bags I already brought. You also could not even tell that I have a fireplace because the stacks of boxes covered that wall. I could hear the older guy calling his company and complaining about the 3rd floor multiple times while there. The 2 younger guys were great and just keep moving and pushing on. I moved multiple things from the hallway drop spots to my apartment. Some of the stuff I moved was stuff the older guy put on the 2nd floor and some was in the 1st floor hallway. I offered water and sunkist to them, but they said they had water. While one of the guys was putting together my bed, he apologized for the older guy saying it is their job to do moves and he shouldn't be complaining. At this point I just sat down on the floor talking with him while he put together the bed. I was exhausted. The older guy and other younger guy moved the boxes up while the bed was getting reassembled. Once the bed was done, the only thing left was the washer and dryer. I called the office of my apartment to see about getting a maintenance man to come out to get the door off. They said they would call the maintenance people. About 15min later, I called office again to see if they got ahold of them or not. One maintenance guy and supervisor already went home, and the other one was at a call at another apartment. The movers could not wait another hour to see if the maintenance showed up or not, so I paid and they went. Them not being able to get the washer and dryer plugged up is not their fault. I did not realize how much space that door took up until the movers were there. Several hours later, I was able to get a friend to take the door off, and we measured; everything would fit through the door and into the laundry room now that the door is off. All in all, this company was nice and helpful. They got me in last minute. They helped me with something they normally do not do (taking Tv off of mount). The older guy was not the most professional calling and complaining, but the 2 younger guys were incredibly nice. This was the first set of movers I have ever had that were not hispanic, and they all spoke english clearly as their first/main language. It was a good experience. I would hire them again. I just would like to not overhear complaining by one of the movers.

I hired Red Carpet movers, Elijah and his crew arrived on time, evaluated the entire house of furniture and boxes, then liked a well oiled machine, two of them started moving boxes. The other guys were busy padding and wrapping the furniture. Within two hours, all of the house belongings were loaded on his enclosed hauling trailer. I was in awe of the teamwork and professionalism that Elijah and his guys showed. They were courteous, polite and respectful. Within a short timespan of four and a half hours, Elijah and his crew had my furniture in my new home, all of them had their company logo on, had asked where i wanted each piece of furniture, cleaned up all of the wrapping material and made sure that there was nothing more that i needed them to do. If you are looking for a company to move you, call Elijah at Red Carpet Movers, they are the best of the best. Thank you Elijah, what a great experience.

This was a great deal! $65/hr plus trip charge of $29 with no stairs fee. There is also a 3.5% fee if you used a debit or credit card to pay instead of using cash. You get 2 movers and a Penske rental truck. It was cheaper than a lot of competitors. However, the punctuality was not great at all. I scheduled a move date for Monday, and was contacted by the owner on Monday 2 hours before move that they will need to reschedule my move due to his fiancé pregnancy difficulties. Being pregnant myself, I understood but very disappointed and discouraged bc it set me back a day. I owned and operate a credit repair business from my apartment, I have to keep the doors close for 3 days instead of 2. When I asked for a discount due to the inconvenience of rescheduling, I was told no that I was already given a discount of the initial price of $65 - keep in mind this is the price that was given me when the owner contacted me about moving service. Overall, they got the job done in a hour and half, moving my biggest items from one apartment to another in the same apartment complex. The 2 movers followed my directions, was very nice, and effective. One of them gave my bf a bottle of wine, to celebrate the coming of the new baby! I thought that was nice. I did have a scruff mark on my DVD/TV stand but at this point, I’m just glad to have most of my things moved. Would I use them again, I’m not sure... I probably would if the price is right. But keep in mind u get what u pay for and the value they offer for $65 was still great! This is my honest review!

This was going to originally be a one-star rating. I scheduled the movers between 8-9 am. The driver called me at 9:30 and said he was 20-25 minutes out. At 11, the movers were still not at our apartment and I called them and their hub, but got no answer. at 11:30, they called and said they had to finish up another job and I should have received a call from dispatch, but she must have forgotten to call us. They eventually got to our place at around noon. So, despite the three hour delay, the movers hauled butt and got everything completed in three hours and apologized profusely for the earlier miscommunication. We moved from a two story, two-bedroom town home to an upper-story three bedroom apartment. The two movers were quick, hard-working, professional and respectful. I would be willing to hire them again and hope that the delayed arrival time/miscommunication thing was a one-time only affair.

Great rapport and very fast, competent workers. Move is in progress so hoping all goes well at delivery, but expect they will find a way to charge more again. Negative is the low initial estimate is to pull you in, the phone quote increases significantly, and then you can expect the final price at point of pickup to be a few hundred dollars more still no matter how honest you try to be. One example, I was asked if there were stairs at my townhouse. I said yes, right outside my door. But when the movers arrived I was charged $75 more because there are 4 stairs over 10--- a number never discussed. This is a fine print experience ... and the fine print will cost you plenty.

Service was great but I was extremely disappointed to hear that the movers made about 25-30% of the total amount I was billed and that Bellhops takes the remaining 70-75% when all the movers are essentially gig economy workers (similar to Uber drivers). They should absolutely be taking home a higher percentage. It's outrageous.

I have had my fair share of horrible moving experiences and expected nothing less than that when I hired Big Tex Movers to move me from Burleson to downtown Dallas TX. Imagine how pleasantly surprised I was from the moment I started speaking with the owner, Andy, via Thumbtack. He was extremely professional, pleasant, and straight forward. It seemed too good to be true! Then when my movers arrived, I met Patrick and Christopher and they did an amazing job! They were hustling the entire time. Running from the truck to the pick up, never stopping, never sluggish. They were well groomed, polite and very kind. They took extra care of my belongings, like they belonged to them. These hard working gentleman did this for 5 hours straight! None of my furniture or belongings were damaged and there were no hidden fees. What I was quoted by Andy was exactly what I paid. They charged by the minute! That is unheard of in their industry. I highly recommend this moving company if you're in need of an honest, hard-working moving company. I will definitely use them again and recommend them to everyone in the Dallas area. Thank you so much Andy, Patrick and Christopher!!! Y'all made my move so easy! A++++++++++++++++++

I had them come clean my house before we took pictures for MLS to list my house for sell. I am a real estate investor and just finished flipping a remodel. They did a great job cleaning the bathrooms, kitchen, and floors which were very dirty due to the months of construction work. They also were able to clean everything very quickly just in time before the photographer arrived. Great job! Will definitely use them again.

We had hired 2 movers from another source , but they sent a text at 9:30 the night before stating they couldn’t make it because they were too busy. We only had that next day to move. I was up at 3:00 am trying to figure out how to hire a mover on short notice. I remembered about the thumbtack app. I sent my info and received options for 4 local movers immediately. I responded to 3 and Samuel texted me back at 6 am! Yahoo! He was working in our area that morning. He sent me his phone number and we decided on a time. He was even able to come earlier. He and his associate were very nice. They did a good job. They went the extra mile to help us. They carefully packed our uhaul which we were traveling with that same afternoon. We are very happy we chose this company, and they had the best rate. I might add we moved from a one bedroom apartment and the job took about 2 1/2 hours. We had no stairs and we had the use of a residential elevator and a nice loading area which helped the movers. I really liked using the thumbtack app. Thumbtack saved the day.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do moving companies do?

Moving companies provide a range of services to help you physically move out of one residence and move into a new place. But moving companies can do so much more than just haul your belongings across town in a truck. The national average for moving company prices ($250-$350 per hour) reflects the range of services provided. Here are examples of all the ways moving companies can help:

  • Packing: Moving companies can pack your belongings for you. They typically charge a flat rate for both the box and the labor to pack the box. The more time-consuming the belongings are to pack, the higher the cost per box. For example, books could be $5 per box, linens $10 per box, and fine china and glassware $18 per box.
  • Specialty moving: Safely move a baby grand piano, a oversize aquarium, or other specialty items with the help of pro movers.
  • Storage: Many moving companies can store your belongings while you wait for a new home to be remodeled or closing of your new home to be finalized. If you’re moving long-distance, they often provide short-term storage free for a specific length of time, and a set rate after that (such as $60 per square cubic foot of storage space used).
  • Long-distance moves: No need to rent a trailer and move your things; a long-distance moving company can haul your belongings across the country for you. Typically they charge by the cubic foot for moves, with prices based on your destination.
  • Unpacking: Moving companies can even unpack your belongings for you after they have moved them. This is not as common, and will definitely increase the price, but can be helpful if you’re not able to tackle this task yourself.

How much does a moving company charge per hour?

When you’re ready to make a major move, it’s time to research moving companies’ prices. A moving company may charge on average anywhere between $25 and $100 per hour, per worker, for moving services. The price will vary with regional labor rates, local cost to do business, and the level of service the movers are providing. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a moving company is $250-$350 per hour. This price includes a range of pricing, from all-in service with four or more movers on site to standard hourly rates for one or two movers. Other factors that affect moving companies’ prices are packing, stairs (or elevators), and distance. For a full-service move, you pay movers to pack your belongings for you. You may pay for the cost of the moving boxes and an hourly rate per worker, and there may be additional charges for packing fragile items. Stairs will also add to your moving prices. Lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs takes more time and creates more physical labor for the workers. Moving companies may charge flat rates for flights of stairs, such as $50-$70 per flight. A moving company may also charge a one-time fee for moving things via elevator, such as $75-$100. If parking is not accessible in front of your home or apartment building, there may also be an additional fee for the added distance to carry your belongings to the truck.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
