FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Yes - I charge $35/hour for most tutoring, writing, and editing services. For some subjects, however, such as upper level math courses (Algebra 2, Trigonometry, etc.), my rates start at $40/hour. Higher rates may also apply to higher level editing or tutoring situations that are atypical (e.g., two or more students, etc.).
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
During my first session with a new student, I conduct an assessment to get to know them personally; determine their strengths, weaknesses and challenges; and understand their specific goals for tutoring. I also introduce a simple contract that delineates my expectations for students/clients, and my personal commitments to them. This makes it easier to collaborate, so my students can succeed!
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I began tutoring in high school - helping kids in younger grades who were struggling in various subjects including English and Social Studies. I tutored a bit more in my 20's, helping students challenged in different levels of math, like Geometry and Algebra. In the past few years, I began tutoring again - first working in a tutoring center, then as a Cognitive Skills Trainer at Learning Rx, and finally as my own boss: owner of Spring Tutoring, Writing and Editing Services.
