Meggan was wonderful to work with. If she made an appointment, she kept it and was on time. She did everything she said she was going to do, and it was obvious to me that she worked hard to make sure each room turned out well. I told her that I did not care what decorator style she used because I felt my personal taste was not important. I just wanted the house to look nice, but depersonalized so that a potential buyer could see herself and her family living in the house. AND, because I have been in the middle of several important and time-sensitive projects, I asked Meggan to complete the staging with as little work on my part as possible. I gave her the key and left her to it. I was happy with the result. She used just enough furniture and decorative touches to suggest the scale of the rooms and how they might be furnished. She was able to incorporate a few of my own small pieces that I'd temporarily left behind for the purpose of staging. I was impressed that her staged version of our master bath was almost nicer than my own design when we'd lived there. In the master bedroom, she hung a beautiful painting from her personal collection that I later learned she done herself. I almost asked if she'd be willing to sell it to me. I don't know if this is something that she does, but I could see her putting her staging talent to work doing home decor for clients. Meggan was honest, dependable and professional throughout the process. She's well-organized, detail-oriented and energetic. I understand from her that she has a degree in fine arts, which explains her eye for color and design. Her prices were reasonable for the amount of work involved. I'd recommend Meggan to anyone who wants to avoid an empty house during the time it is on the market and to anyone who wants a faster turn-around and higher price on a sale.

I've found Lauren via Thumbtack for her Wedding Planning Services. I have noted that Lauren is very determined, hardworking, and puts in the extra time for her business. During our meeting she told me she has her Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts in Interior Design from the Art Institute in Houston. Perfect, I thought! I recently bought a new home and needed some design work. I told her what I was looking for, what I needed, and I gave her a deadline due to a party I would be hosting soon and she executed! When an issued occurred she followed-up and ensured it was corrected. I'm very pleased with her Interior Design service and will recommend her services.

Working with Cathy was easy and well worth it! Cathy knew exactly what to do with my vacant home. She selected the furniture pieces, rugs, and decor. The house showed well and we had two serious offers within the first week. We actually hated it when Cathy had the furniture and accessories removed since the house looked great, better than when we lived there. I would recommend Cathy to anyone looking for a Stager. Cathy is talented and reasonably priced!

Jann Wisdom Designs is a first-class service provider from start to finish. Jann Wisdom and Elizabeth Frost are an amazing team, backed with a wealth of knowledge and resources to meet your needs no matter your background, budget, or style. My home was destroyed by Hurricane Harvey. Jann and her team have walked me through the rebuilding process from patiently picking out granite, tile, paint colors, flooring and backsplash to choosing my style of furniture, fixtures and even educated me on proper furniture positioning! Jann, Elizabeth and their team have been a blessing to me and I highly recommend their service.

Brittany was very professional and personable. She reached out to me constantly before our first meet up to have an idea of what I was looking for in my home. Her main goals were making sure that I was happy with the layout and interior service she provided my husband and me. House of Brittany provided me with a five star service. She bounced ideas off of me and my husband and always came back with designs that pleased and surprised us. She has a great eye and sense of decorum! My home has all the comforts and statements I want it to have due to her keen eye for spacing and style. I would recommend her to anyone looking to stage their home for the buyers market or for home owners beginning to decorate or revamp their home!

It was our pleasure to have The Deco Guys work with us on our home renovation. They both brought a wealth of knowledge, talent, and professionalism with them, which made our extensive project go as smooth and efficiently as possible. Always open to our ideas, and concerns, with prompt response, top quality products/designs and understanding. Their sub-contractors were the same, wonderful to have in/out of our home. The result turned our home into a beautiful, functional, and comfortable dwelling we enjoy and share often.

I have worked with Carrie for about 5 years and 2 homes. She worked within my budget(s) and I have been pleased with the results every time. (Curtains, artwork, rugs and more) When we were in the process of selling our first home, the buyers wanted ALL the patio furniture and accessories that Carrie decorated.

Sandy and Tina did an amazing job staging our flip house. The furnishings and home decor accessories are gorgeous. They are both current and modern for the style of today. They were prompt when I contacted them and told them that I was interested in their services. They were also extremely responsive to a timeline that worked for us to have the house staged and ready before the open house. You can't beat the value. Excellent price!! I highly recommend Stylish Decor & More and we will definitely use them again in the future. Thanks, again Sandy and Tina!!

RTY is an amazing architect firm! What a talented group of young guys? I had the opportunity of receiving my consultation from Robel Yemane. Going into this I knew it would be quite the challenge. Anyone who knows me, will say that I'm truly an indecisive person. Especially when it comes down to something like customizing my own home. Robel was nothing but patient with me. He assured me, we would make the dream into reality together. I'm beyond pleased with the company. I have and I will continue to refer RTY Design Control Consulting to all of my friends and family!!! ~Vicente

Heidi was so helpful to transform my bare space into a home. She jumped in and painted my bedroom and decorated with a few things I had and added a few others to make it look so great. She moved to my kitchen and made it me. I can't thank her enough for all the great work she did. Heidi was very reasonably priced for her work and I will definitely use her again for other rooms in my house

It’s not always true that first impressions are lasting impressions, but in this case, as far as I’m concerned, my instincts were correct. I first met Joshua (founder of QT&CD) at the Music store he owned in town. I soon learned that he also owned several other businesses. His design of the storefront was very functional and included artwork that he created to match the store's theme. In addition to that, he installed the security system with good lines of sight for complete store coverage. In an earlier life, I had managed a large music store, so was doubly impressed with the amount of detail that had been taken into consideration towards creating effective displays, but at the same time considering the risks of being a store owner/manager. I tend to be impressed by thoroughness and attention to detail; and eventually I was able to have Joshua assist me with projects at our home. Over the course of several years, it has become obvious to me that Joshua is the consummate business professional while knowing that at the same time his passion is to deal effectively for the customer’s best interest.

I turn the entire place into a different place by understanding what my client's desire and how much space I am working with and of course the client's budget. I encourage clients to recycle items if they are on a budget crunch. Let me know if I can help you in designing/ decorating your house/business. Fees will be discussed in person.

We do roofing, painting, floors, drywall, pressure washing, gutter cleaning, landscaping, etc. Customer comes first always and there opinion is always welcomed. The job is not done until the customer is happy. The pricing we provide is always reasonable and payment plans are also avaliable.

We do all types of construction-related work. We do Sheetrock, tiling, flooring, roofing, decks, patios, driveways, porches, fencing, additions, etc.

I am very detail-oriented, and I am very thorough in my work.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

        What do interior designers do?

Interior designers do much more than pick complementary paint colors and choose matching furniture — although those tasks are important parts of the job. Unlike decorators, interior designers usually have an associate of science degree or certificate of achievement in interior design from an accredited program. They’re trained in drafting, lighting and computer aided design (CAD), and are experts in room-specific design and residential space planning. Interior designers use these skills to plan and design safe, highly functional and beautiful interior spaces, from kitchens and bathrooms to family rooms and bedrooms. They determine space requirements, work within building codes and inspection regulations, and meet accessibility standards. An interior designer’s day-to-day job includes creative and technical tasks, both of which often require great communication skills:

        • Creating model rooms and visuals using design software.
        • Researching different textiles, materials, finishes, lighting and furniture.
        • Hiring suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
        • Estimating costs and making bids on potential jobs.

How do you find a good interior designer?

For many homeowners, the difference between a good interior designer and a bad one is simply a matter of taste — but all good designers have similar skill sets. Interior designers usually have a degree or certificate in interior design, with training in design principles and lighting, drafting, and computer aided design (CAD) software. Good interior designers have strong color balancing skills and understand how different colors influence spatial perception and moods. They know the building and electrical codes in the areas where they practice, and they make sure that any contractors they hire also work to those codes. They are knowledgeable about different upholstery fabrics and draperies, stay ahead of residential design trends, and maintain their own individual creativity. Also, good interior designers have excellent space designing skills, so they can arrange a space efficiently and with ideal traffic flow. Ultimately, hiring a good interior designer means pinpointing one whose signature style is complementary to your personal style — so checking out many designers’ portfolios is a must — and whose communication methods match yours.

How do you choose an interior designer?

Choosing an interior designer is all about finding one whose signature style fits well with your tastes and who can work within your budget. To choose the right professional for your interior design project, ask yourself these five questions:

        • What is your signature style? Good interior designers can both describe their personal aesthetic and demonstrate their signature style through their portfolios. Make sure it appeals to you.
        • How will you make sure the design fits my lifestyle? Good designers understand that the interior design must improve a homeowner’s experience in their home and fit into their lifestyle; for example, a white suede sofa is a poor choice for a family with large dogs and small children.
        • How much do you charge? Depending on the project, an interior designer may charge an hourly rate, a flat fee or a percentage of the project’s total cost.
        • How will you stick to my budget? An interior designer should have a plan for staying within your budget, which includes full transparency of costs and flexibility when choosing materials and furnishings.

Because an interior design project is highly collaborative and based on hard-to-define personal preferences, it’s most important to choose a designer who communicates clearly and listens closely to you.

How much do interior designers charge?

You can hire an interior design for a job as basic as a one-room consultation or as complex as supervising the design of an entire new home, helping with space planning, choosing color palettes, and shopping for furniture, flooring and artwork. The size and scope of the job will determine how much an interior designer charges; the average national cost for an interior designer ranges from $75 to $100 or more per hour. Other cost factors include the person’s reputation — interior designers to the stars are usually more expensive — and region. Most interior designers charge an average of $100-$225 for an initial consultation, but some will charge an hourly rate, usually starting at an average of $50, for larger projects that require extensive consultations. Hourly rates may be available for smaller projects, such as redecorating a living room or staging a home for sale; for instance, shopping and consulting can cost an average of $75 to $100 per hour, while staging costs and average $95 per hour. For many homeowners, a percentage of an interior designer’s cost is recouped through the professional discounts they receive from their vendors.
