My name is Michael Cheek. I am a guitar instructor, serving the North Dallas area, as well as online. I have been teaching every style of electric and acoustic guitar for over a decade. Why waste time and money driving to a guitar teacher when I will come to your home where you are the most comfortable? I have been taking lessons from him since a month and he is an excellent teacher. He got a sense of what I wanted to achieve fairly soon despite my extremely vague requirements and I would strongly recommend taking lessons from him.

Michael has being teaching me guitar lessons for over 2 years. Many of the lessons have been 1 on 1 until Michael and his family had to move from my area. We continued our lessons using skype on our personal computers and it has worked amasingly well over time. Of course 1on 1 attention cant be beat--skype has worked very well. Ive learned music theory,songs, chords,scales,finger picking,songs by ear, techniques,licks , patterns,dynamics , melody , movement on the guitar neck , layering of music, keys , tablature, and many other things pertaining to the guitar. Michael is very dependable and punctial for our lessons and its always a real joy to learn from him. Michael has a knack in teaching ---its almost like he gets you thinking and understanding your lessons and at times I catch myself taking the lead role as we progress though the 1 1/2 hour lesson. He seems to know when to take control and when to let the reins out---and let you think your way through a issue you may be studying. Michael has also helped when asked to help on the decision process of purchasing guitars and amps etc.---he leaves all solely up to you however will put his guiding hands on you if a bad mistake may be in the works. Its such a pleasure taking these lessons I personally doubled up on the classes early on--because I felt I needed longer spans of time. The amasing thing about my asking Michael to do the extra time was his answer . He told me to give him some time to think if this is the proper thing to do at this juncture of my learning process. He knew fratigue would not be a good for me in my early learning and he wanted to make sure I was ready. In closing I would recommend Michael to any of my friends that are considering the study of music and guitar. Thanks Michael for all you have done for me in my quest!!!!!!!!!

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

    Most importantly when looking for a guitar instructor, ask for references. At least three to be safe. It's also a good idea to ask those references if they know anyone else who uses that instructor. Clients often network really well and will know someone else who is using that instructor. This way you can feel more sure that you are getting the real story on your instructor.
