Learning to play the piano involves skills of music reading and physical skills to translate the music reading into piano sounds. I have 50 years of experience in starting children, teens, and adults in the rewarding skill attainment for piano playing. My teaching is technologically enhanced using the latest proven technologies that facilitate skill development. My pricing is reasonable. I teach 36 lessons in a twelve month period. The cost of all 36 lessons is divided into 12 equal payments. This allows for a lower monthly cost as opposed to paying the full tuition amount every month. My studio is located in my home and I invite parents to sit in and learn with their children. I have a Master degree in music from Southern Methodist University. I am currently the President of the Richardson Music Teachers Association and Assistant Theory Coordinator for the Texas Music Teachers Association.

Allen Long is a patient, kind piano teacher who can relate to any age. My granddaughter (age 9) followed lessons of a college student, and Mr. Long was able to switch approaches seamlessly. He encourages listening and practicing between lessons and is very reasonable in expense.

My almost 6 year old daughter have just begun her lessons with Mr. Long and I was amazed how comfortable my daughter was with him. I love Mr. Long's style of teaching and tools. My daughter couldn't stop talking or looking through the lesson books all the way home!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I teach 36 lessons in a 12 month period. The yearly cost of lessons is divided into 12 equal payments. If the student cancels a lesson, I will look for a possible re-schedule. If I have no re-scheduling openings, the missed lesson is treated like a missed class in college. It is possible that the student may not receive all 36 lessons when a lesson is missed.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We meet for an initial interview. This is a get acquainted session and there is no charge.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA from California State University at Fullerton (1975). I was a music major and took classes in piano pedagogy. I have a Masters in Music from Southern Methodist University (2005). I have had additional training in Southern Methodist University Institute for Piano Teachers (2014).
