Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Learning a new skill is sometimes a scary thing for little kids. I do not put unnecessary pressure on beginners, and the student sets the pace! I'm also flexible to work with around the child's other activities (ball games, etc.). We have a set lesson time each week, but if the family has a conflict, we can usually find a make-up time. I love to watch the sense of accomplishment when a student "gets" a new concept or technique! The light bulb comes on!

My 11 year old daughter started learning from Susan since February of last year and she has come a long way. We absolutely enjoy her attention to detail and how she communicates with her. She is great with young kids and would recommend her to any child or adult wanting to learn how to play piano very GOOD TEACHER!

Wonderful piano teacher. Very organized, patient, thoughtful, flexible and knowledgable. My 9 year old was begging to begin piano lessons and I'm so glad that we chose Susan. No regrets or concerns. Couldn't have chosen a better teacher. Thanks Susan!!!!

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

It's not all that complicated; based on the student's age, maturity level, and budget, you can choose from the following: 30-minute lesson: $25, 45-minute lesson:$35, or 60-minute lesson: $40. The only additional cost would be for lesson books/sheet music and a travel fee if I travel to your home (based on mileage).

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I played the piano for church for years and often had church members asking me if I gave lessons. Teaching piano in my home was a way I could stay home at with my kids when they were small and still contribute to the family income. Now that my kids are all grown (and having kids of their own!), it's still something I enjoy doing!

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Make sure there is a good rapport between the teacher and student. If the student is fearful or nervous, he or she will not enjoy lessons. Also, help your child succeed by setting a consistent routine for practicing piano every day. It doesn't have to be hours of practice -- shorter, consistent, daily practice is often more useful than one long marathon practice session. The amount of time will depend on the age of the child.
