FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Not at all complicated. If I give a quote to finish a job, that's the price. If I give you an estimate of hours depending on the accuracy of the description you gave me, that will include an hourly rate.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Cisco certifications are valid for three years. The exams aren't easy, and they're not inexpensive. It's a continuous process to keep them current, so I study quite a bit to stay updated on current network technologies.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My dad was a network engineer, so I grew up around it. I had two previous careers that always seemed to end up with me working on the computers, so I decided that I might as well make it legitimate. I gave up manufacturing and enrolled at DeVry in November of 2003, graduated in 2005, and have been working in IT since 2004.
