Andrea was great with our fur babies, Faith and Tuggy. When she walked in and Faith, my skittish rescue dog, went up to her, I knew my fur babies would be in good hands. Every visit was documented with pictures from Andrea. What I was more impressed with was when a "curve ball" was thrown into our schedule, Andrea was able to accommodate the change. I will DEFINITELY use her again, and I highly recommend her. Thank you again Andrea!

Prestigious Pets about their dog walking service, I knew this was the kind of company I was going to do business with. My experience with every aspect of Prestigious Pets, from the care they give to my little dog pico, the communication to me about their walks with him and their expertise when I have questions and issues about my dog has been extraordinary and invaluable to me. I have recommended Prestigious Pets to friends who are now using their service. Thank you, Prestigious Pets for all you've done for me and my dog, Pico and for the peace of mind you allow me while I'm away from my apartment at work. Kalle Has been very helpful to me when I have had questions about Pico.

If I could give 10 stars, our family would! Our first experience with Tami has been amazing. We will definitely be asking her to care for our senior pitt terrier again. Our fur baby has had some medical issues lately and when we left out of town for about ten days she was still sickly and underweight, needing alot of TLC. Tami/Paws n Claws has been supportive and caring even before we dropped her off, checking on our dog via text and offering very helpful and accurate advice that was instrumental in helping us nurse her to health with the vet. We opted to leave our dog at Tami's home instead of ours for the time needed, due to our dog's state of being. This was a wonderful option and just what we needed! Her home is located in a nice neighborhood with a beautiful yard and very well behaved fur babies of her own that live there. Whenever we went to her home for visit/drop off/pick up it was always easy to communicate with her and change times if needed for my convenience. Her home is always very clean and nice smelling each time I've been and very comfortable for my dog. My dog was spoiled and pampered and we received texts and pictures and updates every day. She had no problem giving our dog her meds and special diet. She treated our dog like her own family. Tami is very knowledgable, talented, and passionate in what she does and we are so blessed to have found her. I would recommend her to anyone. When we picked up our dog she was very happy and comfortable and relaxed at Tami's house and she looked great and super healthy. If you are someone who has a family pet, and looking for quality care for them when you can't be there...you don't want anyone else but Tami, Paws and Claws! Thanks Tami!

After having back surgery, I wasn't able to walk my 8 month old Shih Tzu, Romeo. Romeo's is extremely energetic and requires more than your average dog walk to expend some energy. I used Thumbtack to get some quotes and chose Teraca and I'm happy that I did. Not only is she less expensive than her competition, but she is reliable and was very flexible and understanding which I greatly appreciate! I will definitely use her again and highly recommend her.

Comfort Crew Petsitters have been wonderful! I have used them for over a year to take care of our three dogs 3 times per week. There have been occasions I've had to cancel or add a visit without much notice and they are very flexible. The first thing that impressed me was that they leave a detailed description of the visit each time they are there--no guessing if the petsitter showed up or not. Another thing that is great is the PayPal billing because it is wonderfully convenient! Daniel is very good with our dogs and I highly recommend them :).

Chuck is amazing with my dogs! He is trust worthy and he really takes his job to heart. He knows how important our dogs are to me and my husband! He is known as "Uncle Chuck" in our house - I wouldn't trust my house or fur-kids to anyone else!

Martha has been a great pet sitter. She works around the tightly-regulated feeding schedule for our cat and shows our kitty lots of care. She sends us a text message every day with a picture so we can see how our cat is doing. We trust her with our senior cat completely and recommend her highly.

If you are hesitant about hiring a dog care professional, as I was, opt with Mary. She handled my dog Ares so well, I was astonished. Ares is a 100 lbs bully mastiff. He is very maticulous to say the least, Mary not only wrote down every direction and detail, but walked him 20-30 minutes twice sometimes 3 times a day. I worry about my big man because I live in an apartment 3rd story and he is a massive dog. Mary being a slight build, was very stern with him and got his immediate respect, and he loves her forever now! Honestly I never do reviews, like ever, and this was delayed because I wasn’t so busy. But opt for Mary instead of the larger dog walking “businesses”. They only care about the money, she brings a tough of personality and all around genuine honesty! Very affordable and I cannoy wait to hire her again.

My dog is reasonably well behaved but the instant I see another dog coming, I am on guard. She's had some near misses in the past which makes me nervous. Chris is both gentle and stern with her. He gives her all the attention she needs which makes her want to behave with him. She loves to walk with him. She is a lot more disciplined since Chris has been helping with her. I would give 6 stars if I could!

    About

I am a caterer with downtime in the morning. I wanted to do something else I love, animals. A walk is healthy and fun when you have a friend to join you. I can't think of a better way to spend my mornings. Being able to help someone and at the same time having fun walking a dog is something I love to do.

    About

We love all kinds of animals! I am currently in college and Sarah and I both have office jobs during the day, but we don't mind walking dogs in the evenings or sitting animals at your house as long as there is WiFi. Between the two of us we are available every evening during the week after 4:30pm, Fridays after 12pm, and on weekends. We are both willing to work with your schedule.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a dog walker do?

We all know our dogs love going on long, adventure-filled walks, but jobs and family and commuting can make it difficult to give them the leash time they deserve. You can hire a professional dog walker to make sure your furry friend gets adequate exercise and outdoor time each day. A professional dog walker may be an individual contractor or work for a dedicated dog-walking company. In either case, you want to make sure the pro has the appropriate insurance in case of an emergency. Some people opt to give the dog walker a key to their house; others to have them pick up the dog from the yard. Dog walking can happen as often as multiple times per day, or just a few times a month as needed. Here are some questions to ask when you are interviewing a new dog walker:

      • Will you or someone else be walking my dog?
      • Do you have a backup plan if you can’t make it for a scheduled walk?
      • Will you walk my dog by itself, or do you walk several dogs at once?
      • What are your different walk routes?
      • When will you pick up and drop off?
      • How will we communicate?
      • Do I have to commit to a schedule or are you flexible?
      • What’s your cancellation policy?
      • What’s your response plan if my dog gets injured or becomes sick?
      • How and how often do I pay you?
      • Do you offer package pricing if I buy multiple dog walks up front?

How much do dog walkers charge?

The cost of dog walking depends on several factors including length and frequency of dog walks, the number of dogs on the walk, distance to your house, and any additional services you request. The national average cost range for a dog walk is $10-$20, but that price will vary based on where you live in the country and the regional cost of living and doing business.

The longer the dog walk, the higher your costs will be. Dog walkers offer a range of walk lengths, from 15-minute potty breaks to long hikes of 120 minutes or more. For example, a dog walker may charge $15 for a 15-minute walk and $35 for a 35-minute walk. Requesting that your dog be the only animal on the walk will typically mean a higher cost than if you permit your dog to be walked in a pack of dogs. You may be able to get a discounted rate if you have more than one dog to be walked. For example, a professional dog walker may charge $28 for one dog or $33 for two dogs on a 60-minute walk. If you need additional help — like feeding the dogs or giving them medication — dog walkers may be able to provide this service at an additional fee. Dog walkers may charge higher rates for walking your dogs on holidays.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
