Mike installed hot and cold water supply valves and drain plumbing connectors needed for the laundry utility sink in my laundry room. Mike connected all the plumbing for the sink and he secured the sink to the wall. Very nicely done!

I had a difficult project -- needing walls and ceilings painting in rooms with 20 ft ceilings. I got quite a few quotes, and had multiple painters back out on me at the last minute due to the difficulty of the job. PPP painters were able to get the whole thing done in one day, supplied all the paint, and did a phenomenal job! Then they came back a few days later and meticulously went over everything, doing touch-ups where needed. I will definitely be calling them for any future painting needs!

My team was AMAZING. They took my rather not-so-eye-catching house and made it the jewel on the street! The work ethic was top notch, the end product left me feeling great about the house and proud to call it mine. I felt good writing the check to pay, and that says it all. Cameron was my contact that bid the job and his communication was EXCELLENT. José was project manager and my on site painters were Rafael and Roger. Those guys ROCK. They repaired rotted wood, prepped and scraped fascia, painted 9 panel doors and small trim. I cannot recommend highly enough. Will absolutely use them in the future. Thanks guys! ~Crestwood.

Outstanding is an understatement. My ceilings are over 20 ft tall. I had several painters tell me they couldn't do it. The ones who said they could, were willing to do it for the price of a mid sized car. Not only did Wifredo take on the challenge, he did it at a reasonable price. I am convinced there is no company out there that could have done a better job. He paid attention to details as if he were painting his own house. Take it from a perfectionist...look no further than The World of Painting and Services.

Painted an outdoor shed and playhouse. Good sized job with trim, windows, etc. They did an amazing job, for a more than reasonable price. Very helpful, on time, and worked hard to make sure that I was satisfied. Will be doing some house painting and Cooper Painting will be my only call.

We hired Five Star Painting to repaint our entire house shortly after we closed on it, and before we moved in. Everyone involved in the process at Five Star was courteous and professional, and most importantly, were experts in their particular field -- from measurements and quotes, to color selection and design, to executing the paint job. The workers were friendly and respectful, and would always be sure to ask questions before moving ahead, if they weren't sure about something. The job was completed on time, and exactly to our expectations. They even painted our front door at the last minute, when they heard we had not been successful in finding a replacement door to our satisfaction. (It was actually one of the painters' ideas, and we couldn't be happier with the result!) We can honestly say we had a "five-star" experience with Five Star Painting from start to finish. If you're looking for a company that will provide great work at a reasonable price, by a group of employees that you can trust, Mike Christensen and the team at Five Star Painting is the place to go!

Tim recently completed a large two home project for me. He and his crew definitely earned 100% of the 5 stars that I have listed for him. I don't always write long reviews, but I definitely wanted to take the time to write one for Sonshine Paint. Here's why and what you get with them: 1.) Professionalism and punctuality wrapped in a very engaging and joyful people. 2.) High quality work with high quality products in a highly detailed manner. 3.) High competency professionals who seek to understand your goals and can communicate options and suggestions clearly. 4.) Pricing is transparent and work timeline is accurate. 5.) The owner is on the job. 6.) No nonsense, no home repair hostage situation, no up-sell, no misquotes, no "I forgot", no "I didn't see". The quote did not change. When I added work, the quote for the added work was specifically noted and separated from the original quote. They were fair, moral, honest and transparent. I've experienced different painters in the past both as the home owner repairing life's wear and as new home buyer. Sonshine Paint stands apart from all the others in many instances. In the example of new homes or complete paint jobs, Sonshine Paint uses better long lasting products and a better application that exhibits a very tangible difference in quality. They also have a great attention to detail and sense of pride in their work so you will not find some ugly clump of texturing or a missed edge. Where the company really shined was one of the homes had some big drywall scuffs and cuts and I did not have the original paint to aid with a color match. Along with those challenges, the home had several rooms that required a color change from very dark to neutral. Sonshine executed the color change flawlessly and all of the areas that required retexturing were repaired in a manner exceeding expectation. Where Tim went way beyond expectations is in the color match. He could have easily given up, provided a close match and easily convinced me to paint more to make up for the missed match. Instead, Tim took several doors off, cut non-noticiable drywall pieces and made many trips to ensure a perfect match. His efforts saved several walls from being completely repainted thereby saving me money. With the fresh thick paint and the repairs the home looks better than when I bought it new. I also had the a lot of fencing stained at both homes. One fence was grayed with shards of stain left and looked horrible the other fence was faded even though the stain was 3 years old and covered with an additional coat of water seal. From staining in the past with normal water based stain, I figured that my fence was never going to look good again. Sonshine cleaned the fence thoroughly and used an oil based product to bring the life back into it. They used an expensive product, buy my fence looks perfect again and the finish should be very durable with the oil competent and there will be no need for a water seal. Can you find a cheaper quote on your paint work? You probably can, but I will stack all my chips on Tim that the quality and value will be greater with Sonshine Paint.

I needed to hire a painter for my place of business which is a hair salon. I hired Jose and he was just fantastic! His communication was very thorough and he was on time and he did a wonderful job. I actually needed him to repaint the room from a prior painter who did a very sloppy job. Jose made my room look bright and beautiful and on top of it he cleaned everything so thoroughly. He wanted to leave my room spotless and I could tell he took a lot of pride in his services. I was very impressed with his work and I have already hired him to do a plumbing job next in my salon. He is the nicest guy you want to work with and he has an excellent work ethic. He is very upfront and honest he will tell you what he can or cannot do and his prices are very fair. Jose is going to be my go to guy for any handyman work I need in my salon going forward. I highly recommend him for whatever your handyman needs maybe. This man is a true professional!

It has truly been a pleasure to work with the Paint and Designs team. They've work so hard to finish up our 7400sqft painting project. Although we're on a very short time frame to finish the project, they've never given any excuses. They just show up, and get it done. I will definitely be hiring their service again. BEST PRICES, GREAT QUALITY, AND VERY PROFESSIONAL!!

Luis and his team were AWESOME! They did my living room and master. He answered all of my questions prior and came through with awesome results. He squeezed me into his schedule and completed the work in 4 hours as promised, even with my last minute changes. Downloaded thumbtack on Wednesday night, Luis sent me a message, I called and asked for a quote on Thursday, and my rooms were painted on Friday! Speedy service, great quality, and at a reasonable price. I will definitely be calling him when I am ready to paint other rooms!

Manny's Painting was easy to communicate with. Very professional. He always responded quickly. The price was great and the quality of work was amazing. I had him install shelves in a coat closet for a food storage pantry. I have ten children and there isn't a pantry in this fifty year old house. I was running all over the house to get supplies to make dinner. Manny made the shelves strong and durable. Since this closet is in the mud room I don't have him paint the shelves. He caulked them anyways so they would be prepared in case I changed my mind. He worked quickly and since I purchased all the materials he was thorough making sure I purchased all the correct items. They were finished a couple hours before they said they would be done.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
