Introduction: We offer current EMT classes. Our EMT school is up and running! We are very excited about this, and we look forward to having you in our upcoming class. As soon as we get the course numbers from the state, we will begin accepting deposits. When: The next classes will be starting in January. We will be offering an evening class that runs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. Classes will be from January 7 - May 6. We will also be offering a Saturday only class that will run from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. This class will be from Jan 12 - May 6. Things you will need: You will need to be up to date on all shots. This includes the following: - 2MMRs on your shot records - a tetanus (Td) within the last 10 years - 3 Hepatitis B shots (it is a series) - a Varicella vaccine (or have had chicken pox) - a PPD within the last 90 days - Some clinical sites want a current flu shot on file. You will have to have a current American Heart Association health care provider CPR card. (We do teach this class if you need one.) Books: We are going to be using the AAOS EMT book (10th edition). We have a "bundle package" for the class that can be purchased at Jones and Bartlett. You will need a coupon code to get the discounted price. We have selected the following bundle: The Preferred Package, which includes the textbook, the e-book, the e-workbook, and the navigate test prep for $147.25. We will also have a limited set of the bundles for purchase at the classroom when you pay your deposit. Cost: We will be providing the malpractice insurance for you as a part of the course cost. The course will cost of $600.00. We will need a $100.00 non-refundable deposit when you submit your application. All applications must be submitted no later than the first day of class. The deposit will be applied to your tuition cost. If you purchase books from us, the books must be paid in full when picking them up. MYCAA: We do have approval from MYCAA for dependents of active duty persons E5 and below to possibly receive tuition assistance. You will have to contact MYCAA to see if you qualify. GI Bill: We are currently trying to get the approval finalized. There are no updates at this time. Additional: Once you submit your application, you will have to do an L1 background check at the Sylvan Learning Center at 4402 E. Central Texas Expressway, located behind Hallmark Restaurant on Stan Schluter and E CTE. You will have to schedule this appointment on line at the L1enrollment page, and when you get the results back, you will need to bring them to us to put into your student packet. You will also need an 11-panel drug screen that can be done by your doctor or TMC. There are also agencies in the area that will do them. Clinical Sites: We have clinical agreements with Darnall Army Hospital, Metroplex Hospital and Scott & White Hospital. Our affiliate agreement with Seton Medical Center is still pending. We have ride out agreements with Killeen Fire Department and Harker Heights Fire Department. We also have an optional ride out agreement with PHI Helicopter for ride outs, weather dependent and not absolute. Uniform: The ride out/clinical uniform will be the blue collared shirt from Bell County EMS Training, black or navy pants, and black shoes or boots. First shirt will be free; additional shirts will be at cost. Application: Complete this application, and pay the $100 non-refundable deposit. This deposit will be applied towards the total course cost.
