Great service- thank you, Wilson and his crew! They delivered a huge, antique furniture to my house safely. Then it did not fit through the doors and they came up with solutions which required extra work for them. They even fixed the stuck shelves of the furniture. Thanks again and I'll definitely work with them again.

Blast and his helper Enrique did a fantastic job installing our brand new prehung solid mahogany front door. It wasn't an easy one because we own an older (1926) bungalow so the floors, walls, etc. are not always leveled or straight. Nonetheless, Blast did a great job first removing the old door (which we'll keep and make it a barn door), carefully remove the original interior and exterior trim (which we reinstalled) and then completely reframing and installing the new door. He provided very good advice on the stain for the door and provided excellent solutions when we encountered a small unforeseen "cosmetic" issue given the difference in the size of the door opening once the old door frame was removed, which ended up requiring some dry wall patching which he also did on the spot after a quick trip to get the dry wall. Once door was installed, they carefully caulked all the openings and repainted trim. I can really tell they both care, have the patience to get things done right and are respectful of someone's time by arriving on time and keeping very good communication throughout. Very hard workers. Will definitely use again.

I just bought a new home that came with a laundry list of repairs, especially with the roof, which included: securing the ridge vent at the very top of the house, nailing down flashing all around the house and chimney, painting rusty chimney cap and flashing, securing loose shingles, sealing holes in the decking from the attic, and cleaning the gutters. Ultima gave me a great quote. The entire team was friendly and punctual with completing tasks. I'm very satisfied with the job they did and will call them when it's time to replace the roof.

We worked with Judah and his crew from Next Door Painting to have our entire house, both interior and exterior, including ceilings repainted. Our house is roughly ~2500 sqft. From the initial consultation to the work that was done everything was treated very professionally. We made a couple slight adjustments and they absolutely accommodated. The only thing that could be better is maybe managing some expectation on how straight a line can be cut on our textured walls. We spent a good amount of time trying different things with varying results. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and the work done exceeded our expectations at an above avg but reasonable cost. Would highly recommend again.

My daughter and I hired Realtá Remodeling in November 2015 to make repairs to the interior and exterior of our home as we are preparing to sell it and we are so satisfied and impressed with Osman and his team that we are now having second thoughts about selling our home! The remodeling of our home was done absolutely perfectly and on time, everything that was listed in the contract was finished and Osman even made some touches to part of the house that were not included in the contract, which we were grateful for. We had work done to the majority of our house: Master restroom/bedroom (the shower was demolished, a new shower with tile was built, damaged sheetrock was repaired along with plumbing issues in the shower drain, countertops were refinished, leaks under the sinks were fixed, a hole in the bedroom wall was patched, the walls and ceiling were primed and painted and new carpet trim was installed.) Guest restroom (the bathtub was refinished, cabinets were replaced and new wood was installed under the sink where there was a leak, rotten baseboards were replaced.) Living/office/family/laundry room (the walls in each room were primed and painted, ceiling texture was perfectly matched, the wood frame of the windows were sanded, caulked, primed and painted, doors were replaced and painted, holes were patched.) Kitchen (countertops were refinished, new sink was installed, the walls and ceiling were primed and painted.) Exterior (rotten wood was replaced, metal was replaced and welded, both garage doors were replaced, rotten backyard siding was fixed, painting and priming were also done). We are so happy with Realtá Remodeling and Osman that we have referred him to numerous friends and family, my daughter and I highly recommend Realtá Remodeling if you are looking for an honest contractor who works hard to make you happy and follows through with the contract. Thank you Realtá Remodeling, Osman and your staff for making our remodeling process an easy one!

Dave and his team went above and beyond to ensure my 100% satisfaction. I needed a re-painting of 90% of my house so I could put it on the market. They did an amazing job that ultimately resulted in me receiving 8 offers within 32 hours of my house being placed on the market! The results were beautiful and impeccable. Dave is remarkable to work with and so is his team. A+++++++

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.
