Introduction: Hello! My name is Kathryn Heaton and I am a professional musician and educator currently teaching in the Houston area. I am moving my studio to Houston from Dallas where I had been a middle school choral director for 7 years and a private instructor for 11 years. In Fall 2020 I was asked to come to Houston to become the middle school choir director at The Kinkaid School. I have worked as a professional singer in the United States, Canada, China, Austria, and Italy. I hold both an undergraduate and masters degree in voice performance and an additional masters degree in education. I teach voice and piano lessons from my home studio in the West University area. I specialize in classical, choral, and musical theatre. Students in my private voice studio have been consistently recognized in both TMEA and TPSMEA all-state choirs as well as admitted to top universities with music scholarships. In addition to lessons, I provide my older high school students with college preparation and audition coaching. Finding the right fit in a voice teacher can be a challenge! I always recommend consulting with many different teachers and taking sample lessons with a variety of instructors. Your comfort and feeling of accomplishment is my most important mission. It is for that reason that I do not believe in making you commit to multiple lessons at any point. You my buy a package of lessons, or just pay as you go with no penalty for stopping lessons. The first lesson is always a discounted $20 30-minute consultation lesson.
