FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My photography journey started with a tiny plastic pink camera (a Burger King prize!) when I was about eight. In junior high I started scrapbooking my family's memories, and from there taking photos became a full-blown obsession. Countless disposable cameras, Poloaroids, point-and-shoots, and eventually my first DSLR, later, and I found myself working at my hometown paper. That's where I truly learned to capture candid moments, and finally got brave enough to take strangers' pictures. (An intense course in college didn't hurt!) When I started getting more requests to shoot weddings, noticed that many of my friends' Facebook pictures were ones I'd taken, and started getting engagement announcements and Christmas cards of my work in the mail, that's when I decided to launch my business, and turn my longest and most-beloved hobby into a profession!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I'm most passionate about couple and family photography, preferably some place fun, like a nearby park or a cool downtown street. But I also love capturing a couple on their wedding day, and have shot at several cities throughout the state of Texas.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
As a Christmas present, I was hired to shoot adult siblings, their significant others, and two adorable grandchildren. Not only was the photoshoot a blast, the resulting gift album made the grandpa cry. I don't think there's a better compliment than knowing you've moved someone - but especially a grown man - to happy tears.
