FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
At this time the pricing is on the low end for what you get. I am calling it first year pricing. My thread and batting cost are lower than what I see on the internet. For the 2.0 cents per square inch you can get loops or a meander, but you could also get a fill patterns like casual feathers or swirls.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The ideal would be to have an initial conversation with the new customer to make sure that my skills will meet their needs and that they can handle an initial estimate. Then I would need to see the top. Some fabrics are more difficult to work with. There may need to be extra ironing or thread clipping that would need to be done by the customer or by me (for a charge). This can be done in person or on the phone. We would also discuss patterns, thread color, stitch density, timing and final cost. Once agreed, I will start the project as soon as my schedule allows.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
None that involves quilting. I do sew so I can rapidly assess issues I might have with a quilt top. I would also say that the number of charity projects I have completed have helped me learn fast and become very comfortable with my machine.
