We looked into Mr. Padgett because my daughter needed a teacher that taught according to the ABRSM. Mr. Padgett offered a "free lesson" to get a fill of her ability and we were instantly hooked. He pointed out that her viola was not an actual viola but a violin strung as a viola, that her strings needed to be changed, and that while she could play almost any piece given to her she lacked basic foundation skills. I couldn't believe it. Her previous private teacher did not catch any of that during the year and a half they worked together. It has been trying some days getting my daughter to go back to basics and learn what she should have previously learned but Mr. Padgett is great at drawing her in and keeping her focused. He has even rebuked me for putting too much pressure on her or being demanding when it came to practice. He was very polite about it and even took the time to explain to me why. He has mastered multi tasking when it comes to focusing on the student in practice while also keeping the parent involved and in the loop. He has no shame in advising you where your child stands. Her playing has gotten exceptionally better and she's even attempting to memorize the music now. The recitals Mr. Padgett gives are helping her with her confidence in playing in front of others and also showing her the importance of practice. My daughter is starting her second instrument with Mr. Padgett and she very excited. She never gets really excited about going to practice but she has changed slowly over this past month. It does't hurt that Mr. Padgett often rewards her with a little treat afterwards! I would definitely recommend Mr. Padgett to other string parents.

Since i started studying with Robert, I have progressed more in the past 4 months than the previous 2.5 years since starting the violin. When I started with him, I could not play a scale, or in 3rd position. Now, I am more confident with scales, arpeggios, and shifting up and down on the fingerboard. My studies have primarly focused on Hrimaly, Kaiser and Auer, which have been quite intense and rewarding! As an instructor, Robert is motivating, positive, professional, and fun! And the chocolates are delicious!

Mr. Padgett is an excellent Violin and Viola instructor, he is also an excellent teacher, he has a deep knowledge and understanding of music, he also teach music composition, he continually seeks ways to improve, innovate his teaching, has a high enthusiasm for teaching. He knows how to inspire students to learn, to love music. My son has learned from him for about three years, I witnessed his "big change" from a beginner to a talented performer.
