Ms Bae came a little early and let me know she was going to get started sooner. She did a great job cleaning my kitchen and bathroom, removing hardened stains from the oven, microwave and sinks. She took the time to make sure the cleaning was up to my standards. She's a pleasant, professional person to talk to and takes pride and ensuring she provides quality work for a good price. I'd recommend this cleaning service to anyone else who is moving out or needs a thorough clean-through. If I am back in town, I'd re-hire her and her husband again.

Responsive, but a little brash. Informed them that we wanted cleaning on Sunday, but got called twice to ask if we would like it on Saturday because they would already be in the area. They did a nice job cleaning the house though.

I have been on crutches for weeks which makes it hard to keep up with the house cleaning and everyday chores. I host a weekly gathering at my house and needed help getting things cleaned up this week so I booked a cleaning service w/ Handy for the morning of. Well, just a few hours before the scheduled cleaning, my Handy gal cancelled on me! I emailed Handy but they could not send a replacement! Thank God for Thumbtack! I put out a request and within 5 min Romero's House Cleaning messaged me back with a quote! I have to say, Loyda and her sister were great- they really came to my rescue! Not only did Loyda accept my same day request, but she was able to offer me a fair rate that worked for my budget! (some places tried to quote me over $125 for a same day cleaning ). The ladies were fast, efficient and lots of fun! The house looked great- Loyda even steam cleaned my laminate wood floors- an unexpected treat! I would definitely recommend Romero's House Cleaning services to anyone!

Hands down the best carpet cleaning service i have had to date. Not only is he extremely personable, professional, and friendly...but my carpets are like new. He cleaned 3 rooms for me. 2 were pretty easy I would imagine but the room he earned this review on was cleaning my 23 year old dirtbag son's room. You would think this kid ate directly off the floor and poured his drinks right onto the carpet. I was about to pull it and just laminate it but he was able to make it seriously look new. I highly recommend him and I will be using him again...and again... Michael B.

I am so pleased with the cleaning Erika did for our move-out. We scheduled a deep clean and she did an outstanding job. The house looked amazing and using her services helped us focus on our move. Erika went above and beyond to help, squeezing us in over the weekend to get the job done. She was super responsive (by phone/text) and just a pleasure to work with. So if you’re thinking of hiring a cleaning company, don’t look any further. Thanks again, Erika. We’re so grateful for your help!

My husband made a arrangements for cleaning services for my birthday. He told me that he scheduled a Basic Cleaning for the first go round. There were two young ladies that arrived and went straight to work. I have never had my home professionally cleaned so I didn't know what to expect. I keep my home pretty clean most of the time so there isn't much grime. They cleaned pretty good and the house smelled great. A few things that caught my eye: One young lady was getting ready to spray my oven for cleaning but I had to stop her because I have a self-cleaning oven. It didn't appear that my kitchen was thoroughly mopped, just a quick swipe over (not sure if this is what is considered basic cleaning or not.) My husband explained to me that the cleaning included wiping down woodwork. Unless he misunderstood, my woodwork was not wiped down. When it came to paying, I asked one of the young ladies what the cost was and she didn't know so I called my husband. I wrote a check for the amount that he told me. The young ladies left but came back to the door and stated that the check was not correct that I owed and additional $100+. I was totally taken back because for a one-time basic cleaning service there is no way that they did $250+ worth of work. The young lady called her manager back and the manager said she would send a screenshot of the quote. The quote indicated the basic cleaning was for what I paid however it had deep cleaning up under for the $250+ with a discount. My problem is this: The young lady knew that she didn't deep clean therefore she should informed her manager of that. (But maybe she honestly doesn't know how much they are charging so I can understand that.) Her manager had indicated that the amount that I paid was okay and asked that we provide a review. This is a pretty long review so my apologies. In the future, I will discuss in great detail exactly what I'm paying for and my expectation of the service. As I mentioned, I have never hired a cleaning service, they did a pretty good job and I believe I can talk through any minor details that were missed. But the expectation of payment needs to be understood and accurate the first go round.

Did an excellent job. Usually with a cleaner, I can find one or two obvious misses, like dust left on a counter or not cleaning a mirror, but I couldn't find a single thing. There was even a checklist prepared of what was done, which I've seen from the professional cleaning services, but not too often the independent ones. Will definitely continue to use this service.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is upholstery cleaning?

From your carpets to your drapes to your furniture, all fabrics need to be cleaned. Cleaning upholstery, or the fabric on your furniture, removes the dirt and oils that are transferred to couches and chairs through regular use. Because furniture upholstery can be delicate and colors can fade easily, it’s often a good idea to let professional sofa cleaners handle the job. They’ll determine the type of fabric — usually cotton, linen, wool, suede or microfiber — and the appropriate method for cleaning it, either steam-cleaning or applying a dry-cleaning solvent. In general, cleaning an entire piece of furniture includes a pretreatment, cleaning, and neutralizing rinse to the body, plus removing and cleaning all cushions and cleaning all crevices.

An upholstery cleaner may clean the entire piece of furniture, on a regular schedule or by request, or do spot treatments to remove pet, food, drink, or oil and grease stains. Furniture can also be deodorized to remove the smell of pets or tobacco smoke. Furniture that’s used often, like that in your family room, should be cleaned once a year to keep it fresh and extend its life. Sofa cleaners often also offer repair services to mend tears in fabric or patch holes in leather.

How much do you pay for house cleaning?

Hiring a professional house cleaning service is a helpful way to have a healthy home even when your work and personal schedule is packed. House cleaning prices vary based on how many square feet your home is, how dirty your house gets, and how often the cleaning service comes. Some companies charge a set amount — such as 5 cents — per square foot, with a minimum amount, such as $100. The national average cost for house cleaning ranges between $110 and $150. Prices can be lower in areas with a lower cost of living, higher in big cities or affluent regions. You may save money by increasing the frequency of your house cleaning visits. Often a company will charge you less per cleaning when you schedule more cleanings per month. The cost advantage rewards your loyalty, and also reflects the fact that more frequent cleanings make it easier to maintain a high level of cleanliness in your home. A housecleaning service may charge more for the first visit or for one-time services than for recurring cleanings.

How much does it cost to deep clean a house?

Deep cleaning a house goes beyond the surface level to clear out the dust, grime and gunk that’s collecting on the fan blades, hiding in the blinds, and built up inside the refrigerator drawers. Deep cleaning of a home or apartment costs more than regular house cleaning because it takes more time, effort, and cleaning products. You may choose to have a deep cleaning once or several times a year in addition to your standard cleaning services. You may have a one-time deep cleaning to prepare for company or to clean after a house party. Companies may charge an hourly rate or a price per square foot, or may offer you a flat rate after they have visited your home and estimated work time. The national average house cleaning price is $110-$150, with rates ranging higher for deep-cleaning services. Here are some examples of how a company may calculate their deep-cleaning prices:

  • 10 cents per square foot (compared with 5 cents per square foot for standard house cleaning).
  • $300 for a 3,000-square-foot home.
  • $25 per hour per worker for deep-cleaning services.

Who cleans couches?

Even if your furniture doesn’t appear dirty or stained, your couches are collecting just as much dust, pollen, germs, pet hair and dander, and even food crumbs as your carpets. In general, the same professionals who clean your carpets and drapes can also clean your couches. Carpet cleaners usually offer upholstery cleaning services as well, and may offer a discount if you have your carpets cleaned at the same time. Alternatively, you can choose from a range of professional upholstery cleaners in your area who specialize in cleaning different types of upholstery fabrics, including delicate antique fabrics and other hard-to-clean materials such as suede. In addition to deep-cleaning the entire piece of furniture, sofa cleaners can spot-treat food, pet, and oil and grease stains. Most professionals also offer services to sanitize and deodorize your furniture and apply protectants to prevent future stains. As with carpets, experts recommend that you have your upholstered furniture cleaned once every year or two, depending on how much use it gets and whether you have children and pets.

How much does upholstery cleaning cost?

The cost to have your upholstered furniture cleaned depends mostly on two factors: the size of the furniture and the type of fabric. The national average cost of upholstery cleaning ranges from $120 to $150. Most people have multiple pieces cleaned at once, but sofa cleaners will come to your home for just one heavily soiled couch or to spot-treat stains. The smaller the furniture, the lower the cost: A lounge chair may cost an average of $50 to clean, while a couch costs an average of $135 and an L-shaped sectional costs an average of $190. Delicate materials such as antique fabrics or suede upholstery are more expensive to clean than sturdier ones. Having the sofa cleaner do repairs will also add to the cost. Repairs such as mending a tear in fabric or patching a hole in leather may be charged by the task or by the hour; in general, repairs cost an average of $15 each. Special or delicate fabrics may cost additional fees, too.
