Carol Anne was great! This is my first time having an actual pet sitter, normally my friends and family take care of my pets. My expectations weren't high to start with, I thought she would feed my pets, clean litter and play with them a little. She ended up doing so much more. She would not only get my mail, but also make sure and leave a light on every once in a while so neighbors don't realize no one is home. She also got one of our babies out of her shell, she paid extra attention to her, since she was the shy one. Now she seems more active and involved. She also took care of my allergy cat who scratches herself. Our vet said other that giving her a lime dip which would leave her smelling really bad, she would probably always be a scratcher. Carol Anne brought over a spray she had used on other animals that scratch and it seems to be helping her and her fur is growing back in on her bald spots. She is very security conscious which I loved, because we have noisy neighbors. Lastly, what I never expected was for her to do some light cleaning. Litter tends to get every where and she vacuumed! We always got photo updates when she came over showing how well the kiddos were doing. She even took us being extremely over protective pet parents very well. We will definitely be keeping her number on speed dial for next vacation.

I can't even describe how happy I am with the dog sitting service that Christine provides. She is great with my dogs! They love her! And she goes above and beyond just pet sitting. She brings in the mail, brings the trash can up to the house, etc. If I could give her 6 stars, I would. I have had other sitters before, but there is no comparison. She is wonderful and if you're looking for anyone to take care of your animals, look no further. I strongly recommend you hire her.

I must say that I have never been more impressed and totally satisfied (above and beyond) with my choice in selecting Debbie as a pet sitter for my 2 dogs and cat. Debbie is the most reliable and congenial person out there. My pets absolutely love her and she has eternal visitation rights for the rest of time. I didn't have to worry about one single thing during the time I was away...and that is thanks to Debbie. My little dog was so worried he would hurt her feelings the night I returned...that he had each of us on timed visiting assignments. It was too cute. I would trust my pets with Debbie...over any person or business out there. I love her to death and will use her services for as long as she will allow. I give her 30 stars out of 10!! Thank you Debbie for all of your efforts. I am eternally grateful..and will gladly recommend your services to all pet lovers.

I have been taking lessons at Sterling Hunter Jumpers Stable for over a year. I have loved every minute of it and have grown so much in my riding ability during this short period of time. My 8 year old daughter has also taken lessons and attended their summer camp. She loves going to Sterling! As a parent, I 100% trust that my daughter is in good hands. The owners, Erin and Johnny, are extremely knowledgeable and always have each rider's safety and best interest in mind. Sterling has riders of all levels and Erin works diligently to train each rider based upon their individual skill level. She truly cares about her students and goes above and beyond for them. Erin and Johnny take amazing care of all animals on the property. This level of care is exemplified by the top quality of the horses that are used for lessons. They are not typical "lesson horses". Sterling horses are well trained, safe and teach their riders how to be better equestrians. There are different horses for all riding levels. Erin works with each rider to pair them with the perfect horse for their abilities. Sterling has a very friendly and welcoming environment that makes coming to the barn a nice escape from the daily grind. I could go on and on listing many more reasons why Sterling is a great place to ride. But in a nutshell, if you're looking for a well run barn with knowledable trainers that keep safety and progression of equestrian skills as their top priority, this is the place for you!!

My oldest daughter has been taking lessons at Creekwood for 3 years now, and I couldn't be happier. She was so timid when she started, and Laurel (owner and head trainer) has known just when to push Anna and when to let her take her time. She's so much more confident now, not just in her riding ability. The atmosphere at the barn is really relaxed and laid back. You can tell that the happiness and health of both the horses and the girls who ride there are Laurel's #1 priority. There's zero snobbery and there's a great camaraderie: the girls aren't overly competitive toward each other. This summer, my younger daughter stated taking lessons with Abbey, who offers private lessons to all beginners until they've acquired the skills to join one of Laurel's group lessons. It's fantastic to have one-on-one attention with your horse while you're just starting out. Creekwood's lesson and lease prices are extremely reasonable as well. I wouldn't have my daughters ride anywhere else.

    About

I offer pet-sitting services to customers on a weekly, daily, or occasional basis. Some customers need daily care for their pets while they work, and some just need care whenever they go out of town or on vacation. Basically, I go to your home for 20-30-minute visits to complete any tasks you request, including administering medications, food and water, walks, cleaning out litterboxes, walking pets, picking up mail and paper, trash, or curb, etc. I try to make your pets as comfortable as possible while not interrupting your routine or theirs.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

    • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
    • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
      • 45-minute visit: $28.
      • 60-minute visit: $32.
    • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
    • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
      • 12 hours: $100.
      • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32.
