Be warned. Think twice before booking with this company or else pray that nothing goes wrong. Hired this company for a local move on June 10th, the moving crew showed up on time and were quick in unloading and loading. However, several pieces of appliances were damaged during the move. It was pointed out to the moving crew and I was told that the owner will be in contact with me. No calls was received. I contacted the owner and I was told to provide more information and pictures. No updates whatsoever after that. Contacted them again and was told to provide the same information again. This goes on for several weeks until I realized that this company has no intention to do the right thing. I sent them another message today asking for partial refund to cover the damages caused but my message was ignored. I understand accidents happen but this company claims that they are fully insured and bonded, it should not be so difficult to file a claim. It will not end here. Pictures attached is just one part of the damage.

Eddie and Tanner were friendly, funny, efficient, professional - amazing. They made moving as pleasant and easy as moving can be. They didn't mind that my move took two trips to and from the old place and new place. Would hire again, and probably would marry either of them!

Mike is an amazing guy and did an amazing job. I renovated the floors in my house and was looking for options to remove the old floors. I looked at renting a dumpster, but a friend suggested I call Texas Dump Junk first. Mike came by and gave a quote that was cheaper than renting a dumpster and he would move the debris, saving me the effort. He was able to start immediately and had the job done quickly. He is thorough. I also had the opportunity to chat with Mike as he was finishing and he in genuinely a nice guy. I couldn't have asked for a better experience and highly recommend him.

Mona Lisa moving is one of the best moving company I ever hired. They did however qouted me wrong but quite honestly they charged me a very reasonable price. I do agree they qouted me quite low for the job it took to move my stuff at first so it was very fair they charged me more later. They care about my furniture very much. I have a 5000$+ bed and dresser which they took the time and care to move it. They wrapped it good and even took it apart and assemble it for me. Very nice people and easy to work with. Moving is big stress and headaches. Save yourself the trouble and hire the professional Mona Lisa moving company. You will not be dissapointed. My furniture arrived looking like they did before. Thanks again Mona Lisa! Oh and they come with a spanking new huge moving truck. You know how most moving company come in a bang up sqeeking truck? Not them! Will use them again if I ever need to move anything.

Jayden's Moving Company quickly reached out once I placed my request for the moving help I needed. They arrived at the time they said they would, and they called to confirm the order. They listened to everything we told them, and did the job in a perfessional manner. During this moving period which could have been stressful, they allowed it to be a stress free time for us. Alex and company are amazing! We were being strung along by our big-name moving company, and needed to be in Missouri to start a new job. After yet another delay, and yet another "guarantee", we were desperate and found AmerApex Moving. Alex contacted us on a Monday and by Thursday, they were there! They were absolute lifesavers, and did everything they could to take care of our belongings and make us feel at ease. And then they were in Missouri by Saturday to unload everything in our new house! On top of that, they are incredibly friendly and made a stressful situation feel much lighter. We can't thank Alex enough, and wish every moving company out there could be half as professional and effective as his!

As many folks have mentioned, moving is a ubiquitously hated part of life. But, in all honesty, Great Nation Moving makes it relatively painless. I have used many moving companies in my life but Great Nation and the moving team beat all the expectations. We moved to New England, and they did an awesome job. Came right on time, and did a quality job with unloading and setting up our belongings. We were packed and loaded in one day and delivered within 5 days without any scratches, dents, or missing items. They were on budget, nothing hidden, and the crew was fantastic and hard working. I Highly recommend Great Nation for a long distance move.

I remember going through 7-8 moving companies that were giving me quotes of thousands of dollars for me to move from San Antonio, Texas to Frisco, Texas. When I called Larry and told him my situation he gave me good advice on what I should do. He told me to call the Penske truck company instead of using the very expensive U-Haul. Then he told me he would have his men move me once I get into town for only $230. Days before it was time for me to move he followed up with me to make sure everything was good to go. Then he gave me advice on how to pack things in my moving truck, materials to use for moving, and all things of how to prepare for a move. Due to bad weather I wasn't able to have his team move me on the day I needed. When I called him and asked if we could reschedule for the following day, he set aside his day with his family to help me on a Sunday evening to move. He even got a fellow gentleman he knew very well to assist us both with the moving process. He also set up my bed and furniture. Afterwards, he dropped my moving truck to the drop off location without any hesitation. Larry made my transition to Frisco, Texas really easy as everyone knows moving can be very stressful. Larry was very friendly, trustworthy, honest, and patient with me. Larry is very down-to-earth and very much so a people person. The next time I move I will definitely contact him and only him for his assistance! Thanks again Larry!

The movers at AmerApex Moving could not have done a better job moving our belongings over 2,000 miles away. The crew was on time, polite, very careful, and kept the move fun and in good spirits. Nothing was damaged and the price did not budge a penny. Thank you again for making my move across country stress free. I will be recommending AmerApex Moving to all my friends and family!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What do moving companies do?

Moving companies provide a range of services to help you physically move out of one residence and move into a new place. But moving companies can do so much more than just haul your belongings across town in a truck. The national average for moving company prices ($250-$350 per hour) reflects the range of services provided. Here are examples of all the ways moving companies can help:

    • Packing: Moving companies can pack your belongings for you. They typically charge a flat rate for both the box and the labor to pack the box. The more time-consuming the belongings are to pack, the higher the cost per box. For example, books could be $5 per box, linens $10 per box, and fine china and glassware $18 per box.
    • Specialty moving: Safely move a baby grand piano, a oversize aquarium, or other specialty items with the help of pro movers.
    • Storage: Many moving companies can store your belongings while you wait for a new home to be remodeled or closing of your new home to be finalized. If you’re moving long-distance, they often provide short-term storage free for a specific length of time, and a set rate after that (such as $60 per square cubic foot of storage space used).
    • Long-distance moves: No need to rent a trailer and move your things; a long-distance moving company can haul your belongings across the country for you. Typically they charge by the cubic foot for moves, with prices based on your destination.
    • Unpacking: Moving companies can even unpack your belongings for you after they have moved them. This is not as common, and will definitely increase the price, but can be helpful if you’re not able to tackle this task yourself.

How much does a moving company charge per hour?

When you’re ready to make a major move, it’s time to research moving companies’ prices. A moving company may charge on average anywhere between $25 and $100 per hour, per worker, for moving services. The price will vary with regional labor rates, local cost to do business, and the level of service the movers are providing. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a moving company is $250-$350 per hour. This price includes a range of pricing, from all-in service with four or more movers on site to standard hourly rates for one or two movers. Other factors that affect moving companies’ prices are packing, stairs (or elevators), and distance. For a full-service move, you pay movers to pack your belongings for you. You may pay for the cost of the moving boxes and an hourly rate per worker, and there may be additional charges for packing fragile items. Stairs will also add to your moving prices. Lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs takes more time and creates more physical labor for the workers. Moving companies may charge flat rates for flights of stairs, such as $50-$70 per flight. A moving company may also charge a one-time fee for moving things via elevator, such as $75-$100. If parking is not accessible in front of your home or apartment building, there may also be an additional fee for the added distance to carry your belongings to the truck.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
