The customers should ask the following questions to the contractors: 1) Are you licensed? (depending on the state you live in) 2) Are you insured or bonded?(General liability etc.) 3) References from previous customers.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Customers should gather background data, existing floor plans, photos, Etc. To start a file. The next question is what the project consists of or the design program (list of needed and wants). Item 3 will be basic understanding of your budget if there is one. The contractor can begin to flesh out basic numbers based on square foot pricing. The actual proposal of course will follow with revision to the cost estimate of time, labor and materials.
