I can't say enough positive things about my experience working with Jeff. I needed the tree limbs that had overgrown onto my roof cut for an insurance inspection. Jeff responded right away and came over to look at the work. His quote was very reasonable and took into account the safety of my home, and the health of my trees as well as my budget. He knocked the job out quickly and gave me feedback on the health and maintenance of the other trees on my property. I felt very good about working with Jeff because he clearly loves what he does. He definitely has my business in the future! Thanks, Meg Pettersson

Love Powell's Lawn and Handyman service, very fast response time and was super reasonable. Charged me only $45 to remove a downed tree, when others wanted $100 or more! Will be utilizing him for more jobs in the future, for sure!

***HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!**** These guys were amazing! Will definitely be using them from now on. Excellent service and hands down the nicest people you will ever deal with when it comes to landscaping. Cannot say enough good about Mayes Services! They cleaned out, trimmed up and remulched our huge flower beds around our home and the trees up our driveway. We had lots of rain during our times of scheduling but they worked with my schedule to come and get the job done. Amazing work and unbeatable service!

Gave us the lowest estimate out of several tree service companies. Did a professional job in a timely manner. And even sent a representative by several days later to check the job and ensure our satisfaction.

This company was wonderful. They showed up at the discussed time ready to work. Introduced themselves. Had great knowledge of the project. The owners even stopped by and checked in with us, so friendly. Taking a tree down is never a pleasant experience, but they made it smooth and efficient. I will be hiring them again. I will also recommend them to my friends.

I submitted a project to have about 5 trees and a lot of brush trimmed, as it was taking over our yard and had turned into quite a canopy. Isaac sent me a message shortly after my submission and made it easy to communicate with the option of text, call, or Thumbtack message. He worked around mine and my husband's work schedule to come hear our concerns, make suggestions that met our needs, as well as what was best for the trees, and give an estimate for a couple things we asked about. We decided to hire him the night he gave the estimate, and he started the project the next morning. He had it complete within 2 days, and we are extremely satisfied with the results! He has reasonable prices, quality work, is great with following up during the different stages of his work, and did not mind driving almost an hour to our location. He hauled away all of the tree debris and left our yard looking better than when he started (even not including the tree cutting he was hired for). If you're looking for a knowledgeable, responsive, down to earth, easy to work with guy that has great work to boot, HIRE ISAAC!!

I contacted Mr. Kirby through this web site and he came out to my house the same day to see what needed to be done and did the work the next day. He cut a tree off of a fence and replaced the sections of the fence that were bad. He gave himself several days to do the job, but it only took one day. He did exactly what I asked and did a very good job.

They arrived early in the morning and worked for 10 hours in the dead heat. Their work was extraordinary. Our yard needed a major facelift and they weeded and cleaned out all the beds and immediately bagged the debris keeping the property tidy during the entire process. The bushes were all overgrown and ugly and they trimmed them skillfully with such precision; really giving our home the curb appeal we were hoping to achieve. They did everything I asked them to do and we were so thrilled and pleased with the work that we hired them to care for our regular weekly maintenance! Do not hesitate to hire this service.

René And his helper were very professional and courteous. They quoted a very fair price, ( actually much less than I anticipated ) and they went above and beyond what they said they would do! They did an excellent job, and I plan on having them back in a few weeks for another mowing and more landscaping. I can tell they take extreme pride in their work! Thank you thumbtack!

    About

I love being up in trees. It's exciting and makes me happy. Plus I get to help others out.

    About

I do land clearing, tree and stump removal as well as shredding of any-size property. No job is too big or too small. The shredder is as heavy duty as money can buy, so it will take down anything. I also do road service, from smoothing out and filling roads to completely constructing roads, rights of way and lease roads, building pads, welding projects (if you have an idea, I can design it -- from BBQ pits to custom entryway signs, heavy-duty truck bumpers like those from the company "Ranch Hand", etc. No job is to small or too large), junk haul-offs and agricultural services of all types. I also do groundwork with new horses to be ready for under-saddle training or groundwork with older broke horses that need a refresher course in manners or need to be taught to load in a trailer. I have gone through the horse training program at Tarleton State University.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

    • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
    • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to cut down a massive tree?

If you have to remove a big, beautiful tree from your property, you’ll definitely need an arborist. Cutting down a massive tree without the proper tools or training can lead to major property damage or injury. A huge tree may need to be removed if it is diseased or dying and poses a safety risk, has suffered a blow from a storm and isn’t safe, or is growing into your home, your home’s foundation, your septic system, or your power lines. Removal costs for such large trees will depend on the tree’s height, diameter, and relative safety and accessibility, as well as whether you also need the felled tree and stump removed. The bare minimum for removal of a tree over 75 or 80 feet would be $1,000. This may not include tree quartering and removal or stump grinding. Stump grinding ranges on average from $2 to $4 per inch of the stump’s diameter. There is no set price as each situation is unique, so it’s always best to have an arborist give you a quote and detail exactly which services are included in the price.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
