I never write reviews but this time I will. They truly do an outstanding job. Mr. Wilson is very professional and well manner. They assembled 4 pieces of furniture and moved a bedroom set to another location. Prices are very reasonable..... Best in Houston. I already hire them again to come back a do some painting this week. He even offer to go to HomeDepo and get the paint and will bring me the receipt.... That's good service! I'm happy I found these guys and I'm keeping their number on my contacts to hire them again in the future.

Juan was amazing to work with. He took the time to find exactly what I wanted, was very affordable, did a great job installing the granite, protected the floors in the house so he wouldn't damage anything, and most of all is trustworthy. I had another contractor bail on some other jobs at the house and Juan graciously offered to complete the drywall/painting work. He made it look really good! Juan communicates very well, shows up when he says he will, and completes the job with integrity. I will be using him in the future and highly recommend him. Trustworthy contractors are rare to find these days.

Tell Projects is amazing - We had them do a mini "update" on my son's bathroom. The bathroom was outdated and had wallpaper peeling off the walls. The company came in with their large crew and within 4 days were done & out. They re-did all the walls, including painting with texture, and tiled the entire bath area. They also added a large shower niche and, for an added design feature, tiled the entire tub. All for a reasonable price. We are very happy with their work and impressed by their modern & innovative touch. Too grateful not to write a review for them and would definitely recommend Tell Projects to others!

I left him 4 starts instead of 5 because of some minor things. The sheetrock work looks great we had many holes due to plumbing work so he made it as if there were never any holes cut. He was very pleasant to work with and worked the entire time and not distracted. However, I would like to add he was late and I'm a very punctual person so that is a major draw back as it's very important to arrive on time to be paid. Also, and this was disturbing but when the work was done the paint didn't quite match up to the original. We asked him about it and he mentioned we would have to buy paint and paint over it. Seriously? We hired you and paid you a lot of money why wouldn't you do it and let us know that from the beginning. It was late we have two kids and we really didn't feel like giving the guy too hard of a time, because it's just paint but he should've painted it. So other than not being on time and not fully completing the job by matching the right paint I gave 4 stars and would've given 5. I like his work so its hard to say if i'd hire him again, but I don't know how much clearer to be when you mention to a contractor "can you make this like new like it never happened?"

John Guillot, the owner of Atlas Construction and Remodeling, is a very friendly guy who is courteous, kind and professional. All attributes consumers like me look for when hiring professional help around the house. It is also a huge plus that Mr. Guillot is very knowledgeable and does amazing work too. I hired Mr. Guillot to do a welding job to my favorite chair. My chair is like new again! Without reservation, I highly recommend the services of Atlas Construction and Remodeling. We are using Atlas Construction and Remodeling for our 'bucket list' of work starting with painting. Thank you, -Tim Tim Kightlinger BSN, RN League City, Texas 77573

My daughter and I hired Realtá Remodeling in November 2015 to make repairs to the interior and exterior of our home as we are preparing to sell it and we are so satisfied and impressed with Osman and his team that we are now having second thoughts about selling our home! The remodeling of our home was done absolutely perfectly and on time, everything that was listed in the contract was finished and Osman even made some touches to part of the house that were not included in the contract, which we were grateful for. We had work done to the majority of our house: Master restroom/bedroom (the shower was demolished, a new shower with tile was built, damaged sheetrock was repaired along with plumbing issues in the shower drain, countertops were refinished, leaks under the sinks were fixed, a hole in the bedroom wall was patched, the walls and ceiling were primed and painted and new carpet trim was installed.) Guest restroom (the bathtub was refinished, cabinets were replaced and new wood was installed under the sink where there was a leak, rotten baseboards were replaced.) Living/office/family/laundry room (the walls in each room were primed and painted, ceiling texture was perfectly matched, the wood frame of the windows were sanded, caulked, primed and painted, doors were replaced and painted, holes were patched.) Kitchen (countertops were refinished, new sink was installed, the walls and ceiling were primed and painted.) Exterior (rotten wood was replaced, metal was replaced and welded, both garage doors were replaced, rotten backyard siding was fixed, painting and priming were also done). We are so happy with Realtá Remodeling and Osman that we have referred him to numerous friends and family, my daughter and I highly recommend Realtá Remodeling if you are looking for an honest contractor who works hard to make you happy and follows through with the contract. Thank you Realtá Remodeling, Osman and your staff for making our remodeling process an easy one!

Tom was really good. He provided a very competitive estimate. He and his team showed up on time, worked professionally and cleaned up after each day. He completed the job on time and did an outstanding job. He listened to us and made sure we were happy with the end product. He installed Mosaic glass tile for our kitchen backsplash. Will recommend and re-hire him.

In the past I’ve used my carpenter when I needed painting done. But this time because our beach house was in Galveston and it was 3 stories high we decided to use someone closer to the house. I knew I wanted to use Sherwin Williams paint so I asked them to recommend a painter. They recommended Scott from CertaPro. We got a bid from him and 2 other painters. His bid was competitive with theirs plus he was putting 2 coats on and his guys were insured in case of an accident. Once they started we found we had a lot more rotted wood which they replaced. The paint they used was residual paint which holds up better to the Gulf air and is warrantied by Sherwin Williams. Tracy our contact person checked on the house several times as well as Scott. We were pleased with the whole experience and we have two year warranty with CertaPro.

I have used Xpress since before they were even called Xpress! I am a Fixed Operations Manager at a Car Dealership, so one of my responsibilities is to handle all facets of facilities maintenance and repairs. The facility is several decades old and prior management neglected the responsibility. We rarely go a full week without having a facilities issue and Travis and Melissa are always our first call. We have used them for renovation work, electrical, plumbing, lighting, paint, ceiling tiles, parking lot striping, fencing, door repairs, tile flooring, and even preparation for OSHA and EPA inspections. They always present an estimate that gives us a full scope of what options there are for us. Sometimes they find options that we haven’t even considered. They give us the full spectrum and show us how we can back down to what is bare minimum. We normally find great value somewhere in the middle which is exactly what we are looking for. The work is always of good quality and they always find small ways to throw in some additional things they find. I have recently purchased a new home and I am now working with Xpress on having a fireplace added to my home. The versatility of their company, the flexibility for scheduling, and fair pricing are an asset to our company. Additionally I love doing business with small family owned and operated businesses. I definitely recommend allowing Xpress the opportunity to earn your business.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
