We rescued a 70-something pound fearful, wannabe-dominant, no manners, clown of yellow lab mix. ‘Harley’ was a bundle of unbridled energy and attitude who growled and snapped at me a few times. He also *played* way too rough with our other two mild mannered dogs. My husband and I knew we needed professional help for Harley and ourselves. Enter Dog University. Have you ever watched The Dog Whisperer? The trainer from Dog University who came to work with Harley and us instantly took the lead and communicated well with both dog and human. She is a ‘dog whisperer’ in her own right. Amazing! The teaching methods used have always been very positive and appropriate. The instructor helped us understand what Harley needed, how we were possibly giving mixed communications and helped us instill good, balanced, adaptable training methods to achieve what we wanted from Harley. After the first training session Harley was walking loose leash, turning on a dime, sitting when my husband or I stopped walking as well as really getting the hang of the ‘Down’ or ‘Lay Down’ command. To boot, our instructor had Harley sitting, focused on her for a short time while she dropped the leash and walked away. Harley stayed! (We continue to work on this as well as focus) As a FYI only, between sessions we have a bit of homework to do with Harley. This simply reinforces what we accomplished during session. (Homework for us = 5 minutes a couple of times a day. Piece of cake!) Harley is by no means the perfect dog. However Harley is no longer fearful, he no longer will growl or snap at me, he walks like a champ with no tugging and is increasing his focus. I wholeheartedly believe Harley is a *lot* happier than he likely has ever been. I qualify this by saying the verbal and non-verbal communication between instructor and Harley as well as each of us and Harley is becoming crystal clear to him. He knows what is expected almost all of the time. When he is not sure, Harley looks to either of us for further instruction and then follows through. I would like to speak regarding the instructor. She is extraordinarily well versed in 'dog' (& human) and is a clear, positive, understandable communicator. She has been very flexible in scheduling and a positive influence on my husband and I, Harley and the rest of our pack. Our times together have, without doubt, been Win-Win. I hope this instructor feels the same. Would we rehire Dog University? In a heartbeat. If you decide to hire from Dog University be prepared to be extremely happy with the results. Obviously my husband and I recommend Dog University highly!! Additionally, friends and family have noticed and made positive comments about Harley’s manners and attitude.

Catherine is a consummate professional in all aspects. She is a pleasure to work with and is producing fast results with our two dogs. She has been very flexible and adaptive; she has not only accommodated our busy life and work schedules but also helped us build a roadmap to the results we want that's tailored around our needs as dog owners and the individual needs of both our puppies. This approach has given us tons of useful information as first time puppy owners and has been a huge asset for us personally. She legitimately cares for your dogs as much as you do. This is not something you will find easily let alone affordably else where, trust me I spent considerable time looking. She's made a customer for life out of us. I can whole heartedly say she has made our experience as dog owners easier and more fulfilling. She truly is fantastic and if you are looking for a dog trainer you won't find a better one anywhere.

After a near catastrophic event involving my dog Feilong and an ignorant kid Catherine took him in and rehabilitated him. She trained him to be more trusting and less aggressive and my only regret is that she didn't get a chance to work with him longer! I know that without her help and guidance I never would've been able to get him to trust any stranger again. She helped me and gave me advice on how to continue training and guiding him to be a better dog around strangers!
