Since August 10, 1991, I've been calling upon Dr Stuart mostly for massage therapy. Over the course of time, expediency, and when she was practicing in Colorado, I've used other masseuses and masseurs, but no one I've run across can beat her technique, her attention to detail, her knowledge of the art. I would, and will recommend anyone, anywhere to contact her. I've also asked her advice on other subjects, such as foods that are good, and not so good for my blood type, and that information, too, has made a difference in my life, especially since I've achieved senior citizen status.

I went to see Jonathan because my mouth had gotten infected and it was taking a long time to heal. When I arrived for my treatment he went through a thorough assessment. We covered what was going on with me physically, emotionally and spiritually as they are all connected and play an important role for our holistic health. I shared that there were some challenges I had in my life at the time that were causing me stress and it was affecting my health. Jonathan then explained how the treatment would go and answered my questions. He has a natural ability to go at a pace that is comfortable for you and where you feel completely at ease knowing that you are in good hands. The treatment was very enjoyable. I went into a deep state of relaxation. During the treatment I could feel the energy being directed at certain parts of my body and the healing taking place. For example, before the treatment I wasn't able to smile for a whole week due to the pain in my mouth. Immediately after the treatment I was able to smile and I could feel the infection was almost gone. After the treatment we had a debriefing session where we discussed how I felt, any changes I noticed and any new awareness I had. He went on to share how I could enhance those changes through lifestyle modifications that would support my physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. Jonathan has an incredible depth of knowledge about the body and how to support it in order to live a healthy and happy life. I was very impressed with his professionalism and his passion for wellness and serving his clients. If you are struggling with any physical, emotional or spiritual issues I highly recommend you see Dr. Jonathan. No matter what you are going through his treatments will support you and help to bring you back to a state of healing.

Dr. Sattari has a fantastic grasp on neurofeedback and understanding of the brain. I travel from Maryland to see her because her background and application of neurofeedback is unmatched in comparison to anyone I have found in my area. Very thorough and knowledgeable and has made a huge difference for me and my TBI. Highly, highly recommended.

As a long-time loyalist of massage therapy with an SI joint injury, I feel uniquely qualified to recommended Nancy Mayes, who has served as my personal massage therapist for the past 2 years. Nancy is a consummate professional who is highly respectful and dependable. She stays up-to-date with the latest massage teachings, using a holistic approach as she incorporates essential aromatherapy and hot packs to maximize the experience she creates. Nancy tailor-makes sessions to meet the needs of her clients using a variety of unique techniques. I truly appreciate that she makes it a point to focus on my ailments first, consistently resulting in my immediate relief. Last year, Nancy incorporated a lower back stretch in each monthly "treatment" - which happens to be one of my favorite parts of the massage. I always look forward to it as it actually feels better than physical therapy. If you are looking for a strong, gentle soul with a gift of healing, look no further! Simply put, Nancy is genuinely passionate about what she does, and her commitment to her craft shows.

Iridology is the practice of looking at an individual's eyes for healing. The eye is a window to the body's interior. Everyone is unique. Accurate analysis of the iris structure and pigmentation provides information that is hard to find through other medical methods. Everyone should know the knowledge your eyes contain about your body systems. Going through life without this information is like taking a road trip with out a map. Come and experience for yourself this great method of holistic medicine alternative! I will be glad to meet you and help you feel your best! Call me. Alma De La Garza

Something about me, On June 19 2013, my beloved husband passed away suddenly of a heart attack. 47 days prior we had just moved into a rental house after living 16 years in a home that never felt like my home. To me that home belong to My Husband Tom and his Late Wife who passed away in that house. Our plan was to rent this home for as Tom would put it a couple of three years then save money to buy a new home. He passed away, then 47 days (something about that number) after his passing due to a lack of income I had to leave this home and start over. I had to sell my Truck to pay off my car and have some cash while I went back and forth from my Son's apartment to my Mothers home trying to get a life going again while in deep grieving. Finally a landed a job I loved, then I went back to school. 3 and a half years later I noticed an old friend of mine on facebook I haven't seen on over 5 years. It turned out he was single. We began to date and even though I swore I would never fall in love again, I fell in love again. We are now living together. Soon after a new love entered my life the woman who owned the place I worked at sold it to a man who's wife soon after asked him for a Divorce. I offered to help him through this time in his life. He chose instead to become very bitter. Desperate for money he requested me to do things on my job I felt would harm my clients. I refused and quit my job. Even though I couldn't find another place of work in time to pay my bills I refused to give up knowing that "The Universe" has something better planned for me. This is a time I felt I needed to follow my heart. I feel I have acquired life skills that can be very beneficial to those who's lives feel unmanageable. As a Massage Therapist I tailor my sessions to fit my clients needs and desires. I put my client first. I've been told I'm good at finding the trouble spots and apply just the right amount of pressure. I make suggestions in accordance to what I find and my expertise as to what would be most beneficial for my clients. However the final decision is up to you. I will do what I can to help my clients get the best benefits from their service . I'm constantly coming up with new specials to help make my services more affordable. I also offer the combination of Massage Therapy and Hypnosis in one tranquil session called Hypnosage. At this time I have no location of my own to do Massages so I travel to your location as long as it's withing 40 miles of my current home address. I offer a point system to those who recommend me to others giving them points in accordance to the first sale I receive from the referred client. Each point is worth a dollar that can be added to next service or stored up with other points to add to next service. Yes enough points can get you a free service. If you send me that many paying clients you deserve it. The Health wellness coaching sessions can be done over the phone. Therefor rather phone, internet or traveling. All of my services are done in the comfort of your own home. Tarot Card Readings, I've been reading Tarot Cards since 1997 my readings are done via phone or internet. How we do it different? We look at the whole picture. Like other health-care practitioners, we follow a routine to learn about our patients. We consult, review a patient’s history, conduct a physical examination, and request laboratory testing. However, unlike other health-care providers, at the Functional Medicine & Wellness Center, we conduct a careful analysis of the patient’s structure and pay particular attention to the spine. We also inquire about your lifestyle — Do you eat well? Do you exercise? How do you deal with stress? What do you do for a living? And so on. We find the origin of the problem. By gaining intimate knowledge of a patient, we can make a diagnosis. Included in the diagnosis is the probable reason for your pain or discomfort. At the Functional Medicine & Wellness Center we seek the origin of the illness in order to eliminate it – we do not simply treat the symptoms. For example, if the headache you’ve had all week is being caused by misaligned vertebra and an irritated nerve, do you continue to take pain killers indefinitely, or do you realign the vertebra to prevent the pain? We fix the origin of the problem. Chiropractors have a term for misalignments: subluxations. A vertebral subluxation is a misalignment of the bones that protect the spinal cord. The most common therapeutic chiropractic procedure to fix subluxations is known as “spinal manipulation,” also called “chiropractic adjustment.” Manipulation restores joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become hypomobile – or restricted in their movement – as a result of a tissue injury. Manipulation, or adjustment of the affected joint and tissues, restores mobility, thereby alleviating pain and muscle tightness, and allowing tissues to heal. Chiropractic adjustments affect nerves, which control the function of virtually every system in the body, including the organs. As a result, adjustments is extremely effective for a wide variety of other health problems including asthma, digestive problems, fatigue, infections, arthritis, hormone imbalances, and many more.

I focus on holistic healing methods, therapeutic massage and frequency music therapy. I am also an alkaline lifestyle specialist and energy healer.

I provide individual and small-group yoga instruction customized to client needs. I teach everything from fast-paced vinyasa to traditional hatha and therapeutics. I have a mixed level of classes for parties, groups, and bridal showers. I have training as integrative yoga therapist providing Reiki, essential oils, gentle movement, and restorative yoga to those with health limitations in a clinical setting, hospice, or end-of-life care. I have excellent references. I have experience in studios, gyms, community centers, health care and corporate settings!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is naturopathic medicine?

Naturopathic medicine is classified as an alternative healing method, but licensed naturopathic doctors share some of the same academic background as conventional medical doctors and can often prescribe some medications. According to the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP), naturopathic medicine is holistic care that addresses a wide range of problems including (but not limited to) allergies, chronic pain, digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, obesity, respiratory conditions, heart disease, fertility problems, menopause, adrenal fatigue, cancer, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. Naturopathic medicine aims to strengthen and empower the body and its organs to heal itself through low-force interventions. Here are some examples of the type of medical services often provided by naturopathic doctors, as cited by the AANP:

    • Clinical and laboratory diagnostic testing
    • Nutritional medicine
    • Botanical medicine
    • Naturopathic physical medicine (including naturopathic manipulative therapy)
    • Hygiene
    • Counseling
    • Minor surgery
    • Homeopathy
    • Acupuncture
    • Intravenous and injection therapy
    • Naturopathic obstetrics (natural childbirth)

    Can naturopathic doctors prescribe medication?

Licensed naturopathic doctors can prescribe some pharmaceutical medication. Naturopathic doctors complete academic training similar to that of conventional physicians: a bachelor’s degree with a focus on pre-med studies, followed by a four-year residential naturopathic medical program whose first two years have a similar foundation to that of a conventional medical school. After completing their studies, they must pass a post-doctoral exam. Although licensed naturopathic physicians are able to prescribe medication, they usually focus on prevention rather than treatment of symptoms. A naturopathic doctor will offer a holistic approach to your care that encompasses your mental, physical and emotional health. While they will prescribe medication as needed to treat illness, they are also likely to be creating shifts in your lifestyle and nutrition to effect deeper changes in your body’s response to illness.

    Do naturopaths take insurance?

Many naturopathic doctors accept insurance, but a separate question is whether your insurance covers alternative and naturopathic services. There are several steps you can take to find out:

    • Verify whether you live in one of the 20 states that currently licenses naturopathic physicians:
      • Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont and Washington.
    • Confirm whether your insurance will cover naturopathic medical services. Read your insurance plan’s fine print, verify whether naturopathic doctors fall into your insurance carrier’s definition of a doctor, and confirm that the care you are receiving is considered medically necessary. Questions to ask your insurance provider could include:
      • Am I covered for this treatment by a naturopathic physician?
      • Do I need a referral?
      • Is there a list of approved naturopathic doctors in my network?
      • What will the co-pay be?
      • Are there limits to my naturopathic coverage?
    • Before seeking medical care, it’s key to understand the difference between a naturopathic doctor and a naturopath. Anyone may advertise themselves as a naturopath, while to be a licensed naturopathic doctor, a person must complete academic and clinical training.

How do you find a good naturopath?

It’s important not to get misled by the title “naturopath” when searching for a naturopathic doctor. A naturopathic doctor is a licensed professional, while anyone who so desires can call themselves a naturopath. A naturopathic doctor has completed eight years of schooling and is licensed to provide high-quality medical care. When searching for a naturopathic doctor, a good place to start is by researching your state’s licensing and regulatory body for that profession.

Currently, 20 U.S. states license the practice of naturopathic medicine. For those seeking holistic, body-centered healing solutions, a naturopathic doctor can be a good fit. They use natural medicines as well as treatments such as electrotherapy and ayurvedic medicine to encourage the body to heal. Once you have determined a list of naturopathic physicians who are licensed in your state, look for reviews, ask for referrals, and interview the physician in person or by phone to find the right care provider for your health needs.

How long do naturopathic doctors go to school?

Like conventional physicians, naturopathic doctors undergo rigorous academic and clinical training prior to practice. Typically naturopathic doctors go to school for eight years. There are currently 20 states in the U.S. that provide licensing for naturopathic doctors. According to the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, a naturopathic doctor must complete a bachelor’s degree and an accredited four-year residential naturopathic medical program, and pass an extensive postdoctoral board examination, the Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Examinations (NPLEX), in order to receive a license or registration to practice medicine.

The first two years of the residential naturopathic medical program cover many of the same areas of study as conventional medical schools. Naturopathic doctors provide primary patient holistic care. The goal of naturopathic medicine is preventative care and a focus on low force intervention healing methods. This can include natural medicines, acupuncture, hydrotherapy, homeopathy and much more. Naturopathic doctors often work in tandem with conventional medical doctors, as the two practices complement one another.
