Carlos and his crew did such a great job! I am 110% satisfied with their work! They cleaned my home for a move out cleaning on short notice, to help me with my immediate need to sell my home. Carlos did a great job at communicating his services and altered his plan to cover all of my needs. He not only cleaned my home thoroughly but also deep cleaned the carpets. Stains that have been in my carpet, are now gone. I would recommend C&M enterprise for any household cleaning. They will not disappoint! With such great service you can't go wrong.

Don was a great help! He showed up early and didn't stop working until the job was done. We had him install 5 fans in our new house and 3 pendant lights and ALL look amazing! We're having him come back to do more this weekend. I am so glad I found Don to do the handyman work around the house that we can't get to. He's definitely someone we will continue to call and rely on to help with household stuff.

Josh is the most patient and professional "handyman" I have ever had the pleasure of working with. We had to reschedule with him three different times because of issues with a house closing ... but he never got irritated - never seemed put out at all. Instead, he was very understanding and accommodated our numerous schedule changes with friendliness and ease. And once he was finally able to work on the job we had contracted him to do, the work he did for us was wonderful. He was quick, took care to perform quality workmanship, and hauled off the many boxes and such that all the parts of our giant treehouse bed was delivered in. I would HIGHLY recommend Josh for whatever household job you need!

Our experience with Andrea Rutledge was tremendously positive from beginning to end. She provided professional, attentive care for our furry friend for three days while we were traveling. She attended to every detail of Wally's care, but also took care of household items such as putting out the trash, bringing in the mail, and watering plants. She texted us a message and photo after every visit, and she even left a framed photo of Wally upon our return. Would highly recommend her to take care of your pet!

Oh my goodness! Our shower head popped off and left the ball on there. My husband and I have tried to get the crazy thing off, but no luck. So for the last 9 months our shower was not in use. Lucky we have 2 other full bathrooms in our home. He came and executed the job. I was so shocked that he got it off so quick and replaced the shower head. I will definitely contact him again for any household needs in the future.

People often do not have the time to keep order in the house. Oftentimes something does not work, but one does not have time to repair it. I repair these minor damages, helping my clients save time and money. I can fix the computer that does not work. I can prevent the trees in the yard from growing, or if, you have no time to, cut the grass. I can also fix fences that looked a mess in the garage, dripping kitchen faucets, clogged sewers, and many other small items. For example: You have a broken garage door. If you order services from a specialized company, it is more profitable for them to replace the item with a new one, and you'll pay for a service that's lot more expensive. I can try to repair it, or offer an alternative repair.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is house sitting?

A house sitter watches your house while you are away for work or vacation, or if you have to be away for an extended period. House sitters can also provide pet-sitting services, staying in your home and caring for your pet while you are away. The house sitter can say overnight in your home while you’re gone, or stop by once a day to ensure everything is in order if your pet doesn’t need overnight supervision. Reptiles and most cats are just fine with daily visits and feeding.

House sitting provides major advantages to the homeowner. A regular presence in your house deters break-ins and theft. Home safety issues such as water leaks get noticed and dealt with right away, so you don’t come home to big problems. A house sitter can bring in your mail daily, care for your houseplants, and provide home safety and peace of mind.

Why should you hire a contractor?

Hiring a general contractor is a good idea for many remodeling projects. Home renovation contractors have a broad range of skills to manage, coordinate and complete a project. They should help make sure your project comes in on time and within your budget as they hire and supervise all the necessary subcontractors, including electricians and plumbers. They also handle procuring all the materials required for your job. Some homeowners look to save money by acting as their own contractor, but an experienced home renovation contractor is worth the cost. They should know local building codes, be able to pull all necessary permits, and work with inspectors to make sure the construction meets local codes. Also, because they get professional discounts, they can typically buy materials at a better price than you can; better prices on materials and labor save you money, and make up for at least a percentage of the cost of the contractor.

How much do you pay for house cleaning?

Hiring a professional house cleaning service is a helpful way to have a healthy home even when your work and personal schedule is packed. House cleaning prices vary based on how many square feet your home is, how dirty your house gets, and how often the cleaning service comes. Some companies charge a set amount — such as 5 cents — per square foot, with a minimum amount, such as $100. The national average cost for house cleaning ranges between $110 and $150. Prices can be lower in areas with a lower cost of living, higher in big cities or affluent regions. You may save money by increasing the frequency of your house cleaning visits. Often a company will charge you less per cleaning when you schedule more cleanings per month. The cost advantage rewards your loyalty, and also reflects the fact that more frequent cleanings make it easier to maintain a high level of cleanliness in your home. A housecleaning service may charge more for the first visit or for one-time services than for recurring cleanings.

How do you find a good handyman?

Finding a good handyman can change your life. Within days, the endless list of insurmountable tasks that were either out of your skill range or impossible to fit into your busy schedule can be completed. If you know you want help but aren’t sure how to hire the right pro, ask these questions to find the right fit:

    • What is your work experience? If you are putting in a tile backsplash, you want someone experienced with the task, not someone who generally does painting and junk removal.
    • How much do you charge? Handymen often charge hourly rates that vary based on the complexity of the task they’re hired to do, as well as flat rates for standard jobs. Be clear about what they’ll charge before you hire them.
      • On that note, discuss payment details. It’s wise not to pay all the money up front, especially for larger projects. You may be able to pay a deposit for materials and pay the remainder upon project completion.
    • How long will the job take you to complete? If the handyman is as busy as you are and a fence repair is going to take months, you should probably find another qualified handyman for the job.

Read client reviews and follow up with references to make sure you’re choosing the right handyman for your projects. For more, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

    What does a handyman do?

A handyman is a skilled laborer who provides basic home repairs. Anyone can call themselves a handyman, although most who do so are skilled with repairs and home projects. Reading reviews is a good way to determine their fitness for your job. The tasks a handyman can perform include assembling furniture, painting interiors and exteriors, repairing fences, repairing broken doors or replacing trim, hanging lights, hooking up appliances, and much more. Handymen may have flat fees for certain services, or charge an hourly rate. Handyman rates are often lower than those of a contractor, as they don’t have the same specialization. Some states have no limit on the work a handyman can perform, while others do. For example, California’s Building and Professions Code section 7048 (small operations) permits handymen to provide work similar to that of a contractor (floor installation, painting, etc.) provided the total cost of labor and materials does not exceed $500. A handyman is a great resource for minor home repairs at a lower cost than a licensed contractor, but for more complex projects, it pays to hire a specialized contractor.
