There’s a crack in the basement of a home we’re trying to buy and I was worried it was a structural issue. I posted pictures and Dave was quick to respond and knew right away it wasn’t structural, but was also willing to help if we wanted further inspection. I can definitely trust someone who is willing to share their knowledge rather than going straight to charging me an outrageous fee to come look at it like others did. We have some things we want to update in our house and we will definitely be hiring Dave! I know he’ll be fair and professional.

Dave was amazing to work with! He was always responsive to our questions and suggestions. He worked within our budget and he and his sub-contractors did amazing work. Our new basement family room is everything we hoped it would be and we have already spent many hours there together. We appreciated that he always communicated when work would be done and gave regular budget and timeline updates. We finished before Christmas and under budget. We will definitely use Bluerock Builders for future projects. Thank you!

It was a great experience working with David and his team! David was referred by a mutual friend after we had spent over 6 weeks with a different contractor who did not complete any work, or pull any permits. When we decided to go with David, it was like night and day. He pulled permits quickly, and had framers working within a few days afterwards. It was amazing to see the speed that things moved along!
David was quick to keep us updated on progress, and was more than willing to work with us on any concerns or changes we wanted to make. He was also willing to divvy out work (at my request), to let us get our hands dirty, like adding the door knobs and bathroom accessories (e.g. towel rack, toilet paper holder, etc.).
I truly felt that David was on our side when it came to completing the work and managing the subcontractors, which was greatly appreciated.
Thank you David and team - we couldn't say enough good about the work you and your team performed!

We used Bluerock Builders to finish our basement! Dave did a great job working within our budget and timeline. Communication throughout the whole process was great! If we ever had questions or concerns they were always answered and resolved quickly. I'd definitely recommend him to someone looking to do remodel work in their house.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Bluerock prefers to work on a cost plus a fixed fee basis. That way our clients know exactly what they are getting for their money and there are no secrets. The fixed fee eliminates the incentive to increase the project cost in order to make more money. The fixed fee also means Bluerock isn’t penalized for finding creative ways to reduce costs. By being open and clear with pricing we work as a team to design a project that is attractive and fits within your budget.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Every client has a dream, a budget, and a timeline. We enjoy the process of working together to find creative ways to satisfy each of those important elements of a project, then delivering fantastic results!
The process starts with a conversation at the project location where we talk about the scope of the project. We often give a budget estimate range at that time based on recent experience and historical pricing. If desired we complete a full detailed estimate which we review line by line. We work together to adjust the budget to align with the overall project goals and priorities.
Once we have a budget everyone is comfortable with we sign an agreement and then a professional design is done for the purpose of submitting for a building permit and soliciting subcontractor bids. After permits are in hand and bids are received, we start the project and move things along toward completion.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bluerock’s owner holds both an undergraduate and master’s degree in construction management from BYU. Dave got started finishing basements and doing residential remodels as a kid helping his dad. He has since worked in the construction industry for over 20 years. Dave has experience in most trades and and has managed residential construction projects ranging from small renovations to large luxury homes. Our other employees are skilled in various construction trades. We are excited to put our experience to work on your unique project.
