Introduction: The food you eat has a greater influence on how you feel, your energy levels and your long term health than virtually every other aspect of your lifestyle. I am not your 'typical' nutritionist, chef, energy practitioner. Although I've had much academic training in the scientific aspects of nutrition and holistic methods of eating through studying with the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, I have also studied and practiced ancient medical, energy and spiritual traditions. Energy therapy techniques clear the blocked emotional energy and negative thought energy that has become so common for people. It is what we commonly refer to as 'stress'. When we have blocked, scrambled, stuffed, and damaged energy flows and systems, we can not achieve our full potential. I work with several energy clearing and balancing systems that quickly and easily assist people in achieving a balanced lifestyle.
I offer you a philosophy for eating to promote the well-being of your mind, body, environment and energy but also a nutrition guidance plan in cooperation with me as a Chinese classical feng shui practitioner, where I individualize an energetic nutrition plan, to best suit your needs, that will shift the body into a more neutral constitution, where internal balance is achieved and optimum health will result. You experience, dramatically, a change in the way you look, feel, think and your energy performance.
Below are a few examples of 'strategies' I use to make lasting and fulfilling changes to your food and energy that are to nourish you and bring you to a healthier, happier, and full of energy state at any age.
1. What makes food yin (in Chinese philosophy, the passive female principle of the universe, characterized as female and sustaining and associated with earth, dark, and cold) or yang (in Chinese philosophy the active male principle of the universe, characterized as male and creative and associated with heaven, heat, and light) energy.
2. INJOY the optimum beneficial 'chi’ (life force energy) foods to enhance your energy. Sometimes it is appropriate to have a diet that is in tune with the season, and each individual requires different properties and energies in their diet. For example meats tend to be yang in energy, while vegetables are yin. As a very 'general' nutrition guide, you may achieve balance by eating yang foods during winter (the most yin time of year) and yin foods in the summer (the most yang time of year).
3. You will become aware of and incorporate a balance of your nutrition's five tastes - spicy, sweet, sour, bitter and salty. Particular tastes tend to have particular properties. For example, bitter foods and herbs tend to be drying and cold in nature, which makes them ideal for treating 'Damp Heat' conditions (example; urinary or gall-badder challenges). The bland flavor property is considered in addition to the basic five, and tends to aid areas unreachable by other flavors. Foods and herbs can have more than one taste or can incorporate all five.
Also why you have certain cravings for these tastes. Certain tastes are drawn to particular organ systems. As a basic and not absolute nutrition guide, salty tends toward the Kidneys and Bladder; sour to the Liver and Gall Bladder; bitter to the Heart and Small Intestine; spicy to the Lungs and Large Intestine; and sweet to the Spleen and Stomach.
4. You will learn how to choose a meal plan that you are confident is containing the right nutrients, free from harmful ingredients, awareness of certain dishes beneficial to your 'mood', any health conditions and how different cooking styles create different energies to enhance your own personal energy cycle.
5. How colors, materials, shapes, furniture layout, lighting and sound influence your personal energy when eating, even the directions and seating plan that benefits best each individual for peace, communication, digestion and assimilation of their meal.
6. I will also individualize a four-week eating plan with you that is designed to demonstrate how easy and delicious it can be to adapt these changes into your life on a long-term basis.
I love helping guide people to the place of the essential Is of the eating experience -- instinct, intuition, inspiration, and information. I specialize in cooking classes, nutrition counseling and Feng Shui applications to enhance the positive energy in your experience with me.
I realized that individuals that were healing their lives required an entire new set of life skills to maintain their healed state. My ability to take the spiritual and translate it into the practical to assist people in creating the healing in their lives that they want is what inspires me to continue my work.
I always look forward to the unfolding of insight into an individual's physical and spiritual nourishment, and helping people rise out of deprivation into overflowing abundance!
