Janel is AMAZING. She customizes a food plan and work out specifically to your body type, as well as listens to what your goals are and she helps push you towards them in a positive manner. - What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I typically schedule a free consultation with you so we can meet face to face and figure out if we're a good fit before moving forward. Then we start out with measurements, nutrition tweaks, and figure out where you are at. From there, we build upon the weaknesses.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Besides living the lifestyle myself, I have my personal training NASM certification as well as my NASM Fitness Nutrition certification. I am also currently enrolled in the University of Utah working on my Psychology degree so that I can better understand the thought process & decision making aspects, and work with clients of all backgrounds.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?My mom has always had a tremendous influence on me. Growing up, every morning she would turn on the TV and put in her fitness tapes, and I would generally jump in and follow along with her. She made us exercise before we could do something sedentary, made us do all of our chores before we could have a treat, and she encouraged us to be involved in our school's sports teams. It was all the small things such as this that made me the person I am today. Because of my mother, I learned that exercise and nutrition is very important for living a happy and healthy life and you need to find your own balance, whatever that may be. She was always a role model to me, and I aspire to be someone else's role model who didn’t have someone quite like my mother. I competed in bodybuilding shows in my early 20's, began training others, became officially certified in 2012, and have been doing fitness modeling and personal training as my sole career ever since.
