Love and marriage in the time of COVID-19
Weddings are physically intimate affairs for the wedding party and guests. In an effort to maintain social distancing, I will officiate at your wedding under certain conditions and restrictions that you should be aware of as you plan any event.
I am not available until June 1 when we all hope the pandemic begins to subside. Summer time is a good time for outdoor weddings, which I prefer. As your officiant I will work with you and your wedding party to maintain appropriate distancing.
Don't worry, we can make it fun AND safe for everyone. And look at it on the bright side: you'll be able to tell everyone that you got married during the infamous COVID-19 pandemic!
Putting aside all this talk about viruses, let's talk about your actual wedding.
Keep in mind that anyone can marry anyone these days. It takes two clicks on the internet. But if you want a ceremony that really sings, you need to hire an experienced professional.
I'm that person: a professional writer and professor of public speaking, I've done over 100 weddings from small to large, religious and not. Destination weddings and traditional close-to-home weddings with lots of friends and family. I do the heavy lifting, and I also specialize in telling your story during the welcome, based on an advance interview with you. That's my specialty.
I only do 12 ceremonies a year. You can expect a high-touch communicator, and someone completely devoted to one of the most special days of your lives.
Need an ad hoc event manager? Once I'm on site I become the Jewish mother who stage manages, not the entire event, but certainly the ceremony. (I also take directions very well from your professional wedding planner.)
My fee is $450 and includes everything.
Don't go with your uncle or your niece or a friend to officiate. Let them enjoy the ceremony.
I require a $200 deposit to secure the date. (Deposit goes towards the total fee.) And I provide sample ceremonies in advance. Again, my specialty is to meet with you in advance (or over the phone/Skype) in an interview to parse out the story that you've become together. That story gets told in a heartwarming, sometimes funny way, that will make your guests swoon.
