FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For just an on-site consultation the fee is $150. This includes visiting the customer at the site, reviewing their ideas, walking the site, providing suggestions on what would work well and providing a list of plants that would work well. No formalized design is provided. Landscape design fees typically range from $300 to $1,500 and above depending upon the size of the project and the level of detail needed in the project (i.e. is it just the front yard; is it both the front and back yard; is it an undeveloped yard; is it an existing yard that has many elements that are going to be retained; are there just lawn and planting areas; are there pergolas, patios, pathways, gardens, swimming pools, outdoor kitchens, fireplaces, fire pits and other hardscape elements; what is the slope of the property like - are retaining walls needed; does an HOA board need to approve it; is it a commercial project).
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The typical process I use with new customers is meet with them on-site to learn about their ideas, walk the property and develop a base map from taking measurements and other information available. Once the site plan has been developed, I then prepare design concepts. The concepts are sent to the customer and after reviewing them together a final design is prepared based on the comments. The level of detail provided in the plans depends on the customer's needs. Designs typically show planting areas, lawn areas, hardscape areas, plant types, sizes and quantities, an irrigation system if requested and construction details if requested. The plantings are shown at maturity in order to help the customer see how the landscape will look when it is fully grown. This also helps to minimize maintenance by allowing the space needed for plants to grow and prevent overgrowth.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been involved in the landscape industry for nearly two decades. I earned a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture and environmental planning at Utah State University in 2002. I am also a licensed landscape architect in Utah.
