I first met Sam at church, and I was so impressed by his solo singing. His voice was so soft and sweet and also somewhat powerful. I cannot sing very well, so I started admiring him and taking lessons from him. Sam knows what I am supposed to do, and what is my weakness. I feel very comfortable in his class. In addition to that, he is not only a good singer, but also a great musician who is very good piano and guitar player. Thank you very much Sam
I've been working with Tim for almost 2 years now. Tim has a great, private, home studio in his basement with about a dozen different acoustic and electric guitars, a variety of bass and amps, and tons of other equipment like microphones, recording software, effect peddles, etc... You don't need to bring your own equipment if you don't want to. If you do, Tim also has a work bench and can help with repairs, maintenance, and fine tuning. His studio is in Canton and convenient for lessons. Plus, Tim is very flexible and able to accommodate me when my schedule changes suddenly. When I first started with Tim, I had been playing on my own for about a year. Tim is an amazing musician but didn't make me feel bad about my level (or lack there of) of skill. Tim first taught me the basics of foundational guitar theory (notes, scales, chords grips, chord theory, keys, etc) and focused on technique, picking, fingerstyle, and strumming patterns. However, he kept it light and fun and we worked in learning the songs I wanted to learn at the same time, making the experience enjoyable instead of a chore. Tim is always willing to help transcribe and tab out a song for me, or a solo I want to reproduce, or other melodies/chord progressions from other songs. He is even willing to send out videos or recordings to use for practice purposes. We are now delving more into music theory and more advance compositions and songs.
Finding a good guitar and bass tutor can be pretty fraught. Anyone who knows a few scales can potentially set up shop. I had the misfortune of visiting several such "instructors." Unlike most of the folks on craigslist, Morgan is a true teacher. He has deep musical knowledge that spans genres and play styles, and will adapt his lessons to the interests of the student. But more importantly, he's just a great person - kind, patient, and passionate about music. Over 2 years of lessons, Morgan helped me progress from simple pop songs to Jazz comps, and even indulged my interest in kooky prog metal rhythms. The lessons were fun, spontaneous, and challenging. Bonus: Morgan is an experienced guitar tech with a fully outfitted shop in his house. I cannot overstate how convenient it is to be able to get your instrument fixed in the same location where you take your lessons. Virtually no one else in the area can provide this dual service. In summary: I wouldn't write such a long review if he wasn't the real deal. I left each lesson with a smile on my face and I saw the same in every other student that walked out the door before my timeslot. If you want to learn and actually have fun doing it, give this guy a call.
Guitar lesson for me and drum lesson for my daughter. Don was well versed, switched teaching styles and instruments quickly and i found his rates reasonable.
Dan's a fantastic teacher because he makes you want to be a better musician. He uses different ways of instructing that specifically cater to your tastes and interests. He's familiar with a wide range of music, genres, and instruments. I came to Dan for beginner guitar lessons, but ended up gaining much more musical knowledge than I could have ever imagined. Dan helped me with the technicalities of the guitar, and helped me refine and add to my skill as a drummer of 11 years. In Jam Class, we played everything from James Brown to Nirvana. Dan is able to foster a great community of musicians within Jam Class, and will not only teach you to play, but to perform and work with other musicians.
Very professional, Andrew Pendergast is awesome. My daughter has had 3 voice lessons and now we are incorporating guitar with the lesson. I highly recommend Lessons In Your Home.
I have taken over a years worth of guitar lessons from American Music Studio and will continue taking lessons into the future. Brett in co. cater lessons to your skill level and learning style, encouraging you to push the limits and learn more. The instructors are approachable, motivational, personable and experts in their craft. I cannot express how educational and enlightening my experience with American Music Studio has been.
I hired Renato for my son's guitar lessons. In addition to regular teaching process, Renato's approach to teaching was connecting with my son in his musical interests and incorporating that into their lessons. My son was mildly interested in music lessons beforehand, after his lessons with Renato he wants to learn guitar and piano! Renato's love of music and sharing that passion with my son, was a pleasure to observe. Highly recommended, amazing teacher with kids!
I started taking guitar lessons with Paul after having stopped instruction 5 years before. I found the lessons engaging and relevant as he invites you to explore your areas of interest while instilling the fundamental tools necessary for any musician. These included progressions that allow the greenest to pick up and play along with friends, and the development of essential play by ear skills. Paul was also extremely flexible with scheduling, in addition to coming to my residence. He also charged very reasonably for each lesson.
A friend's granddaughter told me about Jason Free with owner of SoundSmith Music Center. I decided to try to set up lessons with him. I have been a guitar student with Jason for three and a half years. My playing has definitely improved. He is generous with his time. The location of the store is convenient and the rates for lessons are reasonable. My lessons are structured to help me improve but we also play songs that I have worked on and Jason will help me overcome any problems I may have with the song. My granddaughter got a guitar for Christmas and I recommended my daughter contact SoundSmith Music Center for lessons. Sophie is now a student at SoundSmith Music Center. I would definitely recommend SouthSmith Music Center to friends and family.
Diego is a natural teacher with a God-given talent. My daughter has only been taking guitar lessons for 4 1/2 months, but I am amazed by her progress and accomplishments. She learns something new each week and walks out of each lesson with a big smile on her face. He is very kind, encouraging and knowledgeable with a fun and diverse repertoire. I highly recommend Diego.
As a beginner, I was in search for a patient and dependable guitar instructor. Bernardo went above and beyond to ensure my learning experience was fun and productive. He did not bog me down with technicalities alone but rather instilled a sense of listening needed for aspiring musicians to succeed. Most importantly, he taught me the value of being responsible for my own learning experience, I took his advice seriously and excelled. Thank you Bernardo!
Max Kuzmyak is a very knowledgeable musician with a large skill set that is useful in the music industry. He can teach trumpet, guitar, voice, and has extensive theory knowledge as well. He is also well versed in recording and audio engineering. Max is very friendly, easy to work with, and professional. I would highly recommend working with him if you are looking for a private teacher, or a recorder.
Josh is awesome! I learned how to play ode to joy my first lesson with him. He's fun and can teach you awesome penatonic scales. He makes playing guitar worth the calluses.
Learning the language of music complex, challenging, and equally rewarding. I take great pride in relating this language to my students. I've taught literally thousands of students since 1994. I believe each student has a unique musical path to forge, and my mission is to provide the tools and inspiration to support their journey.
I try hard to bring out the best in people and give out positive energy. I truly believe that music can heal people. It certainly has helped me.
I am specific and can read a person well to know how I can critique my teaching to their learning
I am self taught so I'll teach you what you need to progress from chords to arpeggios to modes. Ear training and improv will also be provided.
I have turned lessons with some kids into 6-8 year long mentoring relationships. Some have moved onto musics schools and Universities. I work with people from ages 7-61 currently. I have a 100% success rate with my students, but only when time and practice is regimented by the student . Studying and playing music for 30 years has taught me a lot. I base my lesson plans entirely ontbe individual I am working with . No 2 students of mine ever share the same lesson plan , unless requested by those individuals. Most of what I teach I learned by what “not to do” I have found that learning from past mistakes, in all fields of music, had made me very aware of what people should not do as well as areas of focus and strength.
I'm an established, professional guitarist teaching lessons to beginners. Each student receives one-on-one instruction tailored to his/her needs and interests.
I teach guitar, bass, mandolin, and banjo. I have been teaching students of all ages for 30 years and have innovate methods to help students advance rapidly while having fun.
